It is coincidence or quantum synchronicity that there are a multitude of green holidays during this month? Methinks not. :D

I watched "Fiddler on the Roof" last night. Hadn't seen the film for years and years. Released 1971. That's 35 years ago. I was 21. I cried through the whole movie. It brought to light situations and emotions that have since been forgotten. That's why we have to be constantly reminded not to forget, and even when constantly reminded we still forget. It was a film that depicted the history of my Tradition, and where it was that my people came from. I forgot. Fascinating and moving. I had forgotten the real plot of the movie and just remembered the songs, because after that film the songs became traditional Jewish Wedding songs. Fascinating. Actually, the film is about the change. the changing of the traditions. It really moved me. To tears. Weeping tears. Weeping is different than crying. Weeping. When the tears come out of the outer corner of your eyes and roll down your cheeks and drip off your chin. Weeping.

Ice layers record comet creation

Comets hold materials unchanged since the Solar System's formation
The Deep Impact mission is casting new light on how comets formed and how they shed their ice in space.

The US space agency probe sent a 370kg projectile crashing into Comet Tempel 1 and then studied the plume of debris with its suite of instruments.

Nasa's mission scientists say images from last July's encounter reveal as many as seven different layers on the comet's surface.

Their results were presented at a major science conference in Houston, US.

Team member Mike Belton told the meeting he thought the layering was a sign of how comets like Tempel 1 were built up from lesser objects.

Growing 'snowball'

In the outer part of the early Solar System, smaller bodies called cometesimals collided and merged, gradually piling up to form the larger objects we know as comets.

Similar collisions in the inner Solar System led to a loose accumulation of fragments that largely retained their internal structure.

But primordial material in the outer regions was travelling at relatively lower speeds and contained less solid material.

As the cometesimals hit the surface of a growing comet nucleus, they "flowed" on to the surface, researchers believe.

Deep Impact's scientists think the interior structure of Tempel 1 resembles layers of material piled up on one another - a signature of the process that formed the icy body.

Model conflict

Data from the mission is also helping scientists understand how comets shed water-ice through sublimation, the phenomenon which sees a solid become a gas without first melting.

When comets are heated by the Sun, ice sublimes and is lost to space in a process known as outgassing. Some scientists have proposed that this material is coming from deep below the surface crust of the comet.

But temperature data from Tempel 1's nucleus suggests the material must be lost from only a few centimetres below the surface.

"The normal outgassing of the comet has been modelled by different people as coming from bare ice on the surface to subsurface ice that migrates through pores to escape, or from 40-50m below the surface," Deep Impact's chief scientist Mike A'Hearn told the BBC News website.

"I think it is clear from what we have here that the ice that is subliming is within the upper metre. Whether it's 5cm or 20cm below, I wouldn't want to say; but it's not below the top metre. That rules out a lot of the models."

The new results from the mission were presented here at the Lunar and Planetary Science Conference in Houston, Texas.

Somebody I was speaking to recently said I was really stretching it, trying to point out the connections between everything. And that if we just go on our instinct, then we've got nothing to worry about. Then I realized how really really, we don't accept each other for what we are. Really what I'm doing is presenting information. Yes, the information is coloured with my own perception. But also, there is a very viable connection here which is not really acknowledged by humanity as a whole. Everybody just sees their own ways, and ignores the others. Can you imagine my telling Rabbi G that the Hindu Holiday celebrating Spring is the same as Purim? I'd be excommunicated from Judaism, wouldn't I.

As far as Adar goes, I'm seeing the paradox more than the joy. The joy is there, but fleeting.
And religion is really getting to me these days. sighs. Everybody insists that they are right. sighs. So I blog this stuff. I'm a teacher and a seeker. And a researcher. I'm a good researcher.

I just finished a Sci Fi novel by Frederick Pohl "Beyond the Blue Event Horizon" in which a comet is described as a Food Factory being composed of CHON - Carbon Hydrogen Oxygen Nigrogen gas. 1983. Frederick Pohl's imagination made it up.

Comets 'are born of fire and ice'

The first images of a comet particle were revealed last month

Comets are born of fire as well as ice, the first results from the US space agency's (Nasa) Stardust mission show.

In January, Stardust's sample-return capsule landed in Utah, carrying over a million tiny comet grains inside.

Some of these grains contain material that formed at extremely high temperatures, scientists have found.

This is a surprise. Comets formed in the cold, outer-reaches of the early Solar System, and were never exposed to such extreme heating.

The Sun and the planets began forming out of a gaseous cloud called the solar nebula about 4.6 billion years ago.

This "accretion disc" consisted of a hot inner region and a cold outer region where ice was able to survive.

When these grains formed, they were incandescent - they were red or white hot

But something must then have transported them out to the cold, comet-forming region known as the Kuiper Belt.

"These are the hottest minerals found in the coldest place, in the 'Siberia of the Solar System'," said Donald Brownlee, chief scientist on the Stardust mission.

"When these grains formed, they were incandescent - they were red or white hot."

Abundant samples

Details of the analysis were presented here at the Lunar and Planetary Science Conference in Houston, Texas.

The Stardust spacecraft encountered Comet Wild-2 in January 2004. It swept up particles from the frozen body of ice and dust, passing some 240km (149 miles) from the comet's core, or nucleus.

Dr Brownlee said further analysis should resolve some issuesIt then released its sample-return capsule as it flew back to Earth at the beginning of this year.

The US-built capsule touched down in the Utah desert on 15 January. They are the first cometary dust samples ever returned to Earth.

The high-temperature minerals discovered in the Stardust samples are not oddities.

They appear to be abundant, having been found in about one in four of the particles examined so far.

One of these minerals known as forsterite, which condenses at temperatures in excess of 1,120C, has been detected in a comet before.

But other minerals found in the Stardust samples resemble so-called calcium-aluminium inclusions (CAIs), which form at even higher temperatures.

"This raises as many questions as answers. We can't answer them all just yet," said Stardust co-investigator Dr Mike Zolensky.

Longer distances

There are two main possibilities currently being considered to explain the finding.

If the high-temperature minerals formed at the centre of our solar nebula, the molten droplets could have been blasted out to the cold outer region by powerful magnetised jet called the X-wind.

It's perhaps indicative that the X-wind model is a good one

"It's perhaps indicative that the X-wind model is a good one," Caroline Smith, meteorite curator at the Natural History Museum in London, told the BBC News website.

But it means that these bursts must have carried the minerals much further distances than has previously been suggested.

Alternatively, the minerals may have been formed in the hot regions of other stars before finding their way into the solar nebula, where they were incorporated into comets.

"These are fascinating possibilities," said Dr Brownlee.
"In the lab, we can study these at atomic-level resolution and use the chemical, mineralogical and isotopic properties."

He said that analysis of the different isotopes, or forms, of elements in the mineral should resolve where they originated.

Parashat Tetzaveh states the Stones of the Breastplate. I've always been totally fascinated by this, and by stones in general. The energy of these Torah portions sings to me.In the realm of quantum synchronicity, I'm trying to sell my mineral collection. :D
Energy - not religion. Not literal interpretation, although the literal does invoke visions of such splendour that it is hard to remove oneself from them, and that's the connection. It is so hard to study and separate the religion from the spirituality.
The portion is quite explicit. 12 Stones. 4 rows with 3 stones each. Each stone inscribed in such a manner with Hebrew Letters, identifiying the tribes and the Patriarchs. Sephirotic. The bringing down of energy, form, with the letters as the vessels for the light.

Rabbi Shimon says the breastplate is the secret of the forty two letter name of
G-d, {which is the Ana B'Koach}, and the seventy two letter name of G-d, which are the letters Moses used to part the Red Sea. I remember a lecture in which the Breastplate was described as a type of computer. Certain letters lit up while other letters stayed dark, thusly answering the questions posed by the High Priest, the Kohan. Here's Rabbi Shimon from www.kabbalaonline.org.

The Ari talks about reflected light, and the concept of the inter integrating of the Sephirot, which is the energy of Adar. The Ari says it is about the coming down of Chesed of Yesod of Binah to Yesod of Zeir Anpin to Chesed of Netzach and Chesed of Hod. Netzach and Hod being Moses and Ahron. What is even weirder is that I understand. sighs.

I've been reading old sci fi again. And I just started researching Aborigines again, because of the Dreaming. The aborigines have always said they were the First Ones. They have the Dreaming, which is the veil removed from the false reality. Amazing. The Aborigines sing the words which form the true reality.

Exodus is Shemot, Names, in Hebrew. It is all about the names. hmmmmming some more.

Saturn moon 'may have an ocean'

Saturn's moon Enceladus could harbour a liquid water ocean beneath its icy crust, according to data sent back by the Cassini spacecraft.

Until Cassini reached Saturn, the tiny moon had received little attention.
But Enceladus is now the focus of intensive study following the discovery that it is geologically active.

Enceladus may possess reservoirs of near-surface liquid water that erupt to form geysers - and where there's water, there may be life, scientists argue.

These jets have been observed erupting from a "hot spot" in the moon's south polar region.
Scientists on the mission have likened them to the kinds of geysers found in Yellowstone National Park in the US.

"We realise that this is a radical conclusion - that we may have evidence for liquid water within a body so small and so cold," said Dr Carolyn Porco, Cassini imaging team leader at the Space Science Institute in Boulder, US.

"However, if we are right, we have significantly broadened the diversity of Solar System environments where we might possibly have conditions suitable for living organisms. It doesn't get any more exciting than this."

Encompassing spirituality is a process, a change, an alteration. We exist to evolve. The whole universe is in flux. The energies are shifting. It is an honour to be a part of it. A lot of the teachings during Adar deal with the aspect of not knowing. It is impossible to know in the way of true knowing behind the veil, where we are, as it were. And it has to remain hidden, because that is part of the equation. Paradox. Are we really part of some super computer? Sometimes I muse about. As did Douglas Adams. How real is real? Are Nuclear weapons real? The old after the bomb drops movies have been playing again. In nuclear holicaust, there is no redemption. Mushroom cloud and radiation wind, every cell in your body becomes infested with radiation, the nuclear night or nuclear winter , which Twilight Zone was so good at depicting, and all that other stuff. And ya know about the cockroaches.

Is it real?

This US Ports and Dubai has the aspect of Theater of the Absurd. None of it makes any sense. I've got the stories on the blog. If you read back, you see the sense it doesn't make. It has everything to do with money, and nothing to do with anything else. We're being sold.

A while ago the Cassini probe passed Saturn's moon Phoebe, and there was a story that the atmosphere was methane gas and there might be methane breathing life forms. Then the story disappeared.

Space scientists say their discoveries about Saturn's moon Enceladus are stunning, if just a little baffling.
Using the instrument-packed Cassini probe, they have confirmed that the 500km-wide world has an atmosphere.
They have also seen a "hotspot" at the icy moon's south pole, which is riven with cracks dubbed "tiger stripes".
But the US and European scientists told a London meeting they could not yet explain fully the energetic processes driving all the activity on Enceladus.

I muse that Saturn's moons are giving birth, and that the changes we interpret as climate related are really cosmic universe changes. I just KNOW that Phoebe has methane breathing life forms, I just KNOW it. And we're taught again and again and again that water = life. So that fact that NASA is even releasing this news about Enceladus is thought provoking. Read between the lines.

While part of me believes that the money for the Space Program should be used to clean up the planet, I love the pictures, and I love the cosmos, and otherwise, how would we know? Science has replaced spirituality, even though there is a point at which they intertwine these days.

I think it is great. I wanna meet an Enceladusian. :D

The Colour Green and, Is it really easy being green?

Whilst out driving this morning, the colur green was impressively manifest.

We're getting that spring green here in Florida now. What a colour.

Green is not a primary colour. It is formed by mixing blue and yellow = green. Metaphysically green is the colour of healing, of new beginnings, of balance (green is central column in kabbalah) and calmness. Green is always a safe colour to use in energy healing - green never hurts. Green is associated with all growth, as we have thriving chlorophyll and photosynthesis on the planet. In chakra therapy, green is the colour of the heart chakra, although most clairvoyants perceive heart chakra as pink. In today's society, materialistically, green is associated with ecology and money. hmmm.

Seeing colour is the perception of the wavelengths of light. The reflected colour is what we see. The retina in our eyes contains rods and cones. The rods perceive black, white and shades of grey. The cones are the colour receptor cells. There are 3 basic types of cone cells - blue, green and red. We perceive green by the cones processing short and long wavelengths of light. This is how it goes with wavelengths. Green's visable wavelength is 510nm. Grass appears green because all other visible spectrum colours are absorbed, leaving the green wavelength reflected, so it appears green. White reflects all wavelengths while black absorbs all wavelengths.

Since seeing is a sense and a perception, some scientists say that colour doesn't really exist except in our minds. The retina and the rods and cones relay information to the brain which interprets it. Different cultures see different colours differently. How's that for a paradox of the false reality. If someone were to ask me if you could smell a colour, I would have to answer yes. Green especially has smell associated to it. Green things have scent, from the grass to pond scum, which is algae.

The brain can recognize more varieties of the colour green than any other colour.

I need to post these news stories. Mostly for myself, as a record of what happened, that ol' history being written thingie and all that. But I do admit - where dost the paradox of the joy manifest?

The first of the stories is that Dana Reeves is dead. When I read the headline, my thought was - that can't be. But it is. Death is the biggest of the false realities, so the spiritual modalities say. But nonetheless. This is a whoa. She's with Christopher again.

Iran Maintains Defiant Stance as Atomic Agency Takes Case

Red Jr was formed from several storms that merged

The Great Red Spot that has dominated the planet Jupiter's cloudtops for hundreds of years now has a companion.

The gas giant is growing another red spot, which US space agency (Nasa) astronomers have nicknamed "Red Jr".

Both red spots are actually raging storms in Jupiter's cloud layer, but scientists don't yet know how they get their characteristic brick colour.

Red Jr is about half the size of the Great Red Spot and almost exactly the same colour, Science@Nasa reports.

The new storm goes by the official name of Oval BA. It was first observed in 2000, when three smaller spots collided and merged.

Changing colours

At first, Oval BA remained white - the same colour as the storms that combined to create it. But over the past few months, it has started to change in appearance.

"The oval was white in November 2005, it slowly turned brown in December 2005, and red a few weeks ago," said Christopher Go, an amateur astronomer from the Philippines who has been observing Red Jr.

Some scientists believe a similar merger to the one that created Red Jr may have created the Great Red Spot, which is twice as wide as our planet and at least 300 years old.

Dr Glenn Orton, an astronomer at Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory who studies storms on Jupiter and other giant planets, said: "This is convincing. We've been monitoring Jupiter for years to see if Oval BA would turn red - and it finally seems to be happening."

No one is quite sure why the Great Red Spot is red.

One theory is that the storm dredges material from deep beneath Jupiter's cloudtops and lifts it to high altitudes. Here, ultraviolet rays from the Sun turn colour-changing compounds (or chromophores) red.
Oval BA may have strengthened enough to do the same, scientists say.

Time traveling into the singularity during yesterday's Torah portion of Termuah was joy.

At lot was revealed to me, B'H.

One I will mention is that the Ark, Aron Habrit in Hebrew, is a feminine symbol. The Ark is the only in the Holy of Holies.

Ha. No wonder they're so afraid of women in Orthodox Judaism, because they know we're the quintessential keepers of the secret of the Ark. Ha.

My blogger friends seem to have stopped blogging. I'm not.

This is a description of what happens to me when I enter the energy of Torah. Receiving Torah on Shabbat is a 3 fold experience; the scroll itself, the sound of the oral reading and the written word. This Shabbat I chose to do full service, just because. The first sign that I'm entering the zone is that the words on the page go all blurry. Then they lift up from the page. Then you know you're in. What an experience. It is the best high ever. Then I enter this state of joy, where there is no lack. It is the joy within the awe. When I look around at my surroundings, the veil is visible and you need to see through it. The colours are different. The sounds are different. It is the seeing through . It is fabulous. Phew. I had to eat. Food brings you down. You can't stay in that place being physical. Phew. It is an experience of total quantum synchronicty. Everything interconnects.

Takes me a while to come down when that happens to me. I haven't had a Shabbat like this one in a couple of months, becuase me myself and I have been off the wall, or on the wall, as the cause may be. I'm full of appreciation.

Ehud Olmert plans to withdraw tens of thousands of Jews from Judea/Samaria. The right-wing warns: The areas will be taken over by Hamas, leaving the army defenseless.

The plan, as outlined last night by Kadima Knesset candidate Avi Dichter, a former head of the General Security Service (Shabak), calls for razing most of the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria and relocating their residents in those that remain.

The new Kadima plan would leave Israel with four or five isolated pockets of Israeli presence: a narrow finger 20 kilometers long from Rosh HaAyin to Ariel in the Shomron; parts of the Jordan Valley; and strips to the north, east, and south of Jerusalem. The rest of Judea and Samaria would become what many politicians have lately referred to as Hamastan.T

The communities that are to remain, according to the plan Olmert wishes to implement if he wins the elections, have long been mentioned as the "settlement blocs" of Ariel, Maaleh Adumim and Gush Etzion. Karnei Shomron-Kedumim and the Jordan Valley have, occasionally, also been included in what might remain Israeli territory.

Among the communities to be erased under Ehud Olmert's plan would be the following:In the Binyamin Regional Council, north of Jerusalem: Shilo, Eli, Shvut Rachel, N’vei Tzuf, Psagot, Maaleh Michmas, and Maaleh Levonah.

In eastern Gush Etzion: Tekoa, Nokdim (El-David), Maaleh Amos and Meitzad.

In Samaria Council and northern Samaria: Kedumim, Itamar, Yitzhar, Elon Moreh, Har Bracha, Avnei Cheifetz, Mevo Dotan, Hermesh and Tapuach.

In southern Judea: Adora, Pnei Hever, Maon, Susia, Otniel, Negohot, and Mitzpeh Shalem.

Avigdor Lieberman, head of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, sharply criticized the Kadima plan. "All talk of additional retreats in Yesha is irresponsible," he said, "as it strengthens Hamas, weakens Israel, and encourages terrorism." He warned that mortar shelling attempts would soon start from the areas under discussion, "just as occurred in the areas near Gaza such as Ashkelon."

Torture and Death of Jew Deepen Fears in France

BAGNEUX, France, March 3 — Two strips of red-and-white police tape bar the entrance to the low-ceilinged pump room where a young Jewish man, Ilan Halimi, spent the last weeks of his life, tormented and tortured by his captors and eventually splashed with acid in an attempt to erase any traces of their DNA.

But it is clear that plenty of people did know, both that Mr. Halimi was being tortured and that he was Jewish. The police, according to lawyers with access to the investigation files, think at least 20 people participated in his abduction and the subsequent, amateurish negotiations for ransom. His captors told his family that if they did not have the money, they should "go and get it from your synagogue," and later contacted a rabbi, telling him, "We have a Jew."

The horrifying death has stunned France, which has Europe's largest Muslim and largest Jewish populations. Last weekend, tens of thousands of people marched against racism and anti-Semitism in Paris, joined by the interior minister, Nicholas Sarkozy, and smaller marches took place in several other French cities, including Marseille.

The False Reality, The Ark of the Covenant

It is 4 Adar, and everything is presenting itself within a different perspective.

For me, this energy shift was palpable, and I love that.

The negative trait of Adar which must be rectified is the vision of the false reality as the true reality. The false reality has done a very good job of making itself appear as totally real, as if there were nothing more. This energy will present itself during the month of Adar, it is what we have to beware of, and transmute into joy. I am seeing it myself already.
The thing I love about kabbalah, and studying the energy which comes with the months, is that you get a heads up. Sometimes, as it was for me during Shevat, one succumbs to the not so pleasant side.
But I like Adar. I like that it is a month of paradoxes. Musable Metaphors abound. I do better with the water signs.

This week's Torah portion, Terumah, is one of my personal favourites. It is the portion in which the sacred ritual items are named, and Moses is given instructions on how to construct the Ark.

The Sephirotic metaphor is that Yesod of Binah is completed. Only when Yesod of Binah is completed can Yesod of Chochmah become manifest. The manifestation occurrs as Malchut of Binah. (The Ari - not me :) ) The is the inter integrating of the Sephirot, the number 100, which is the gematria for the month.

The Month of Adar - Pisces

Hallelujah, we're into Adar, the month of Joy, B'H.
Orange is the colour for Joy, but as it happens Adar takes the colour of springish green, for central column.
We made it. :D An awful lot happened during Shevat.
I admit that I didn't do all that well with the energy of Shevat. Or, I think I didn't. I was off the wall for a while there. But, now we are 1 Adar, a new energy, everything moving right along.

Adar is the month of Joy.
That's good.
The Hebrew letter for the month of Adar is the Kuf, or Quph, coming right after the Tzadik of Shevat, the 19th letter of the Aleph Bet, gematria 100.

Adar is the 12th month, central column, air , of the water signs. Even though it is the 12th sign, it is not spiritually the end of the cycle, but rather the intermingling of all which came before. The birth and death anniversary of Moses, Moshe Rabeinu, is 7 Adar. Moses was born and died on the same day. The holiday during the month of Adar is Purim, which is a holiday of Joy. Queen Esther and Haman are the main figures of Purim. Queen Esther saved the Jews of Persia from the evil Haman. Purim is know as the holiday of hidden miracles, and the Scroll of Esther, Megillah Esther, is read. One dresses up in costumes and masks during Purim, and you're supposed to get drunk. :D Purim is on 14th Adar.

During leap years in the Hebrew calendar, which occurr 7 times in 19 years, Adar II is added on at the end. When this happens, 7 Adar, Moses's death anniversary is observed during Adar I, but Purim is celebrated in Adar II. 5766 is not a leap year.

The letter kuf is made up of 2 letters, the reish and the zayin. It is the only Hebrew letter which goes below the line, as Lamed is the only letter which goes above the line. {Note - spelled Qof on this chart}

The letter is about the descent of the soul into the lower planes, and the ability to transmute darkness into light. The greatest joy comes from light revealed.

The letters zayin and reish together spell Zeir, crown, and Zar, foreign. Reish Zayin spells Raz, mystery. The meaning of the name of the letter itself, kuf means kof, which is monkey, the symbol of laughter. Kuf also means the 'eye of the needle'. So Adar is about experiencing the infinite essence of the light of Creation entering into the finite context of physical reality, and being revealed through the touching and connection between souls, and the soul opening up totally to the light of the Divine which encompasses All.

The symbol for Adar is Pisces - Dagim in Hebrew - the fish. The sages teach that because the fish live in water, the fish is a creature of the supernal worlds, the hidden worlds, that became manifest in the physical, because water is life.

Fish, water, pisces, life, connection to the eye of the needle, which is that point of tzim tzum of nothingness - before nothingness becomes everythingness, the vanity and ego of the false reality, and the connection between souls. Cool.

Rabbi G gives some great information on the letter Kuf, so I'm just going to quote and paraphrase, but make sure to give credit where credit is due. Rabbi G is one of my main sources of teaching knowledge now. I took me a long time to be able to understand him.

"The most fundamental significance in Torah of the number 19, the ordinal value of the kuf, is the 19 year cycle of the moon in relation to the sun, the basis of the Hebrew calendar. The moon represents the female figure, the secret of the sefirah of malchut personified by Eve (in Hebrew Chavah = 19). The sun represents the male figure, the bestower of light, whereas the moon is the receiver of light. "

Just as in the 3 column system of kabbalah, the male principal, right column, is represented as the positve + pole, and the female, left column, is the negative pole -.

The gematria of the kuf, 100, is the perfection of 10 x 10, all the sefirot interincluded.

The sense for the month of Adar is laughter - the laughter of joy. I like joy. I can relate to joy, whilst I cannot relate to happiness. Two different energies. Two different concepts.

The organ for Adar is the spleen. "Our sages state explicitly ' the spleen laughs'. At first sight, this appears most paradoxical, for the spleen is considered the seat of the black humour, the source of all states of depression and despair "

In Pranic Healing we learn that the spleen is always dirty and has to be cleaned constantly, because it attracts gunky stuff, and holds it.

"The phenomonon of Adar derives from the unknowable head, which in itself is paradoxical. It represents states of existential transformation and metamorphosis."

Being and Nothingness, John Paul Sartre, the quintessential extentialist philosophy work,

Kafka's Metamorphosis, of which I shall never forget the first line 'and Gregor Ivanovich awoke one morning to find himself suddenly transformed into a giant cockroach.'

The Genographic Project

The National Geographic Society is conducting a study called "The Genographic Project". It is a study of the root of the emergence of human kind to determine the quintessential mystery - where did we come from?

They are following the Y marker, the male marker, which is in our chromosomes. Samples of DNA were taken from peoples all over the globe. The Y marker was traced to 60,000 years ago in Africa, where we all descended from a common father. National Geographic is code naming him Adam.

As the migration from the source started, different markers appeared. Some went to the East, some to the South, some to the North , some to the West, and then so on and so on. The study so far has given scientific evidence of the DNA studied prooves that 99.99% descended from the same Y marker.

Fascinating stuff here. Very kabbalistic. Anybody can send in their DNA, and find out which marker they descended from. It isn't a way to find relatives, we're going back 35 to 45,000 years here. It costs $100.000

The Olympic committee changed the rules for scoring. A lot of the old time skaters are commenting that the new scoring policy takes away from the skater's chance to do artistic interpretation because of all the jumps they need to do in 4 minutes. Figure Skating started as Artistic Interpretation on the Ice. Sasha Cohen manages to artistically interpret.
The Japanese skater won the Gold, and Irina won Bronze. It was Irina's last chance in the Olympics.

This week's Torah Portion Mishpatim, and blessing of the new month of Adar. Here's a quantum synchronicity. I was just doing my studying for before Shabbat. Mishpatim has to do with the laws, but the metaphor is reincarnation. All this week, my lovely neighbor Ash who has been helping me with the house has been asking about reincarnation, because she is Hindu, and just as in Kabbalah, reincarnation is a basic premise. Not only is this an example of quantum synchronicity, but also an example of how the energies of the Torah portion repeat themselves, and exist in the quantum universe of energy. Ah ha. That's a seeing right through the opaque. :D

The president added, "This is a company that has played by the rules, that has been cooperative with the United States, a country that's an ally in the war on terror, and it would send a terrible signal to friends and allies not to let this transaction go through."

The White House was taken by surprise when Mr. Frist and Mr. Hastert joined Democratic leaders in Congress and other prominent Republicans, including Mayor Michael R.Bloomberg and Gov. George E. Pataki of New York, in calling for the government to stop the deal from closing next week as scheduled.

"We have not received the necessary assurances regarding security concerns," Mr. Bloomberg wrote in a letter to the president on Tuesday evening. He said he was joining New York's two Democratic senators, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Charles E. Schumer, in calling for a 45-day investigation of the deal under a federal law that governs the review of foreign investments.

Mr. Bush rarely makes veto threats, and he has not vetoed a single bill in his more than five years in office. He issued his remarks after calling reporters into his conference room aboard Air Force One while flying back to Washington from Colorado, and then repeated them for television cameras after stepping out of his helicopter on the South Lawn of the White House.

The White House appeared to have considered the deal routine, especially because so many foreign firms — from Singapore, Denmark and Japan — run major port terminals in the United States and have for years. Bloomberg is a business man first, politician second. I kind of trust his judgement on matters like this.
I never even knew that the East Coast ports were run by a foreign company.
I did get lost in Port Newark and Port Elizabeth more times than I want to remember. The signs at Newark Airport are baaad. Make a wrong turn, and you are in the ports. Not a comforting place to be, let me tell ya.

To be constantly in awe of the infinite within the variety of creation. In all its forms.
In religion, awe is interpreted as fear. That's a corruption. Something that was twisted and then used as a tool to control. Power and Greed. Even in the dictionary, awe is associated with fear.

In kabbalah, awe is the spaces between the Sephirot.
Each Sefira, within it, contains all 10 Sephirot. The awe is the space between, which really isn't space at all, just a differention in energy. So awe is the connection to the endless - where everythingness and nothingness exist at the same moment. Singularity. All energy. All.

The period in Tishrei, from Rosh Hashana to Yom Kippur are called the Days of Awe.
Metaphorically and spiritually speaking, what it means is that the spaces, the awe, become constricted, the spaces close, therefore the lower planes are closer to the higher planes. Of course, it is also interpreted as those days when you lay all your faults on the table and beg forgiveness. That's the fear part which has become associated with awe.
But in the higher real reality, that isn't awe at all.

A funny story about awe. When I was taking a class in Manhattan on the Sephirot, our teacher, Moshe, was explaining awe, in relation to the Ari's linear theory. We don't have to get into that now, but it is the theory of the point then the line before the sphere. I've been Chicken Littleing for a couple of months now.
But
this is really really strange.
It seems that Disney has the movie, "Chicken Little" opening soon.
I went to the market this morning. They were giving out sample of Fuji apples that were artificially flavoured to taste like grape soda. They are called Grapples, and are advertising the film. They come in a plastic container of 4 grape soda apples. They left that funny feeling in my mouth like I had just sucked on a tissue. Cotton mouth.
That is a little too absurd for me.
And
What are they using for the artificial flavour?
Why should an apple taste like grape soda?
Isn't this just too black comedy?
Has life in general become a farce?

NEW YORKERS’ WORKWEEK CLOUDS AIR WITH TINY PARTICLES, STUDY FINDS
Can the workaholic patterns of “the city that never sleeps” affect New York City’s weather?

A recent NASA study reports that they do. Researchers have detected for the first time in an American city a workweek pattern of tiny particles in the air called aerosols, believed to be generated by the comings and goings of people working in the city.
The study also finds these urban aerosols, thickest on Wednesdays and lightest on weekends, can influence air temperatures and cloud cover in densely populated cities.

The study, conducted using New York City as its test case, finds that aerosol cycles are affected by city structures, geography, and human activities like vehicle use and construction. The researchers gathered data over four summers from 2000 to 2004 to complete the study.

Specifically, they used aerosol data from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer aboard NASA’s Terra satellite, and daily and hourly measurements from NASA’s AErosol RObotic NETwork (AERONET), a ground-based network of sensors that detect aerosols in the air.

According to researchers, the major rise in human activity over the past century has interrupted the natural relationship between land surfaces and vegetation that contributes to changes in air temperatures and climate.

This is especially true when it comes to construction of buildings and roads. T
his results in small airborne particles called aerosols composed of dust from construction sites, fossil fuel combustion from car and truck exhaust, and power generation. The more dense a city’s residential and commuter populations, the more roads and buildings are built and used.

This in turn leads to a greater concentrations of aerosols in the air.
How might these workweek fluctuations in the thickness of aerosols in the air affect weather in the Big Apple? Will it rain more or less as a result? Do these tiny particles make the sky cloudier or clearer?

The study’s observations have added to our understanding of daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal and annual cycles of aerosols, and how these particles might affect clouds and rainfall in urban areas.

“Though longer observations are needed, the weekly pattern of aerosols can indeed be used to better understand weather. Aerosols affect the formation of clouds. In turn, they also affect how much rainfall there is, and land surface temperatures,” said the study’s lead author Menglin Jin, a visiting scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md., and a researcher at the University of Maryland, College Park, Md.

“The weekly cycle of aerosols in New York City has been linked to observed weekly cycles in air temperatures and clouds. In particular, rain clouds over the city tend to be thicker and the air temperatures a bit lower on weekends than during the workweek. All of these changes in the air are critical in weather forecasting.”

Aerosols are known to serve as nuclei for water and ice droplets to form around.
Previous research indicates that greater concentrations of aerosols disperse water among more nuclei, leading to higher concentrations of cloud drops that are smaller in size. These smaller drops may fail to grow big enough to fall as rain, therefore, reducing rainfall in urban areas.

Opposite to this, however, heated urban surfaces such as roads, parking lots and buildings cause stronger convection, or the rising of hot air, which can cause more rainfall.
The overall effect on rainfall over New York City is actually a result of these two competing processes. Thus aerosols do indeed play a role in big city weather.

The study distinguished between both distant and local sources of urban aerosols and found a clear weekly cycle in New York City during the summers of 2000 to 2004 for locally-produced aerosols. During New York summers, aerosols were thickest midweek and lightest on weekends. The finding suggests the weekly pattern is caused by the human workweek, since there are no known seven-day natural cycles.

By comparison, clouds were thicker over the weekends. According to the study’s authors, this finding appears to also be connected to aerosols, which may provide nuclei for water droplets to form around, creating more droplets and thicker clouds.

I've been saying this for years. When I left NYC in 2004 to come down to Fla, breathing the air was like breathing in cracked glass. Commuters always knew about Wednesdays. We used to blame it on Matinee day, but it was no air. You can't breathe in NYC. And New Yorkers have developed a Holier than Thou attitude, much worse than every before. Dangerous stuff.

The media in the US is having fun with the story - jokes abound - but it ain't no joke, this. {David Letterman was brilliantly funny, I have to admit}. W

Cheney to give shooting account

US Vice-President Dick Cheney is to make his first public comments since accidentally shooting his hunting companion on Saturday.

Mr Cheney, under growing pressure from politicians and the media to make a statement, will appear on Fox TV.

Harry Whittington, 78, was left with pellets in his body after the shooting on a ranch in Texas, leading to a minor heart attack, doctors said.

He has been moved back into intensive care but is said to be on the mend.

The BBC's Justin Webb says the strange affair has become a potential political liability for the White House.

Democrats have sensed the discomfort of the vice-president and have pounced on it, he says.

Mr Cheney - who visited Mr Whittington in hospital a day after the shooting and telephoned him on Tuesday to offer support - is scheduled to appear on Fox News on Wednesday.

Despite the heart problem, doctors said Mr Whittington was now on the road to recovery.

He is now sitting up and eating regularly - and even preparing some legal work, according to a spokesman for the Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Mr Whittington was moved to intensive care for privacy rather than medical reasons, the hospital added.

Doctors have said the lawyer will probably have the pellets in his body for the rest of his life.

Vice President Dick Cheney on Wednesday accepted full blame for shooting a fellow hunter and defended his decision to not publicly disclose the accident until the following day.

He called it “one of the worst days of my life.”

“I’m the guy who pulled the trigger that fired the round that hit Harry,” Cheney told Fox News Channel in his first public comments since the shooting Saturday in south Texas.

Fox’s Brit Hume, who conducted the interview, said Cheney told him he had “a beer” with lunch hours before the accident. Hume said Cheney told him “no one was drinking” while hunting.

Regarding the more than 20 hours it took for the incident to be reported to the press, Cheney told Hume, “Accuracy was enormously important. I had no press person with me.”

Katharine Armstrong, who owns the ranch where Cheney was shooting, ultimately reported the story to a local Texas newspaper, not Cheney himself.

“There are a lot of basic important parts of the story that required some degree of understanding,” Cheney said, noting that the reporter Armstrong first spoke with did not know the difference between a rifle bullet and a shotgun shell. “And so we were confident that Katherine was the right one, especially because she was an eyewitness and she could speak authoritatively on it. She probably knew better than I did what had happened since I’d only seen one piece of it.”

As I write, New Jersey and New York , my old stomping ground, are being hit by the first major snowfall of this Winter season. As of Now, 11:45 AM EST, Central Park has about 23 inches of snow.
Ah those North East Blizzards - what fun.
And the snow falls

The Trees get Covered in White.
Beauty in its most pristine.
The Evergreens are weighted with snow, their bottom branches touching the earth. And the falling snow is millions and millions of snowflakes, each one different and magnificent in its own glory, feeling no jealousy or hatred because the snowflake knows, that when it falls along with all the others, they make snow. Snowflakes make snow. THE SUM OF THE PARTS IS GREATER THAN THE WHOLE. SNOWFLAKES KNOW.
What a gift for Tu B'Shevat. I still have the Fiber Optic Tree going. The colours shift as the season s shift. I thought I would take it down after Tu B'Shevat, but I don't know if I can .
I also plugged in the Fiber Optic Snow Village in Honour of the Blizzard. And I'll Wear White Today.

Then comes the hard part. Shovelling out. Yuch. Getting 23 inches of snow out of your driveway is neither pleasant nor easy. If you have had any type of cardiac event, snow shovelling is an absolute no no. Absolute. I know.
Since I'm in Florida now, I cannot help but muse upon the difference between blizzards and hurricanes.
The first Hurricane I Experienced was Charlie. My consciousness approached the upcoming storm with the consciousness of a blizzard. When a blizzard is coming, you prepare beforehand. Soup is a necessity. Blankets are a necessity. Usually, in Jersey anyway, you don't worry about power outages - I had them when I was up there, but that's why you have blankets.
Then it snows, and the wind blows, and you watch the silent snow falling, covering eveything with a blanket of white. And you listen to the North Wind Blowing - because the North Wind has a distinct sound - wwoooooooooooww- . And I always had at least 6 more inches than anybody else because my double driveway was a wind tunnel. Today, they're expecting 16-24 inches.
I don't have to shovel out. Ha.
Back to Hurricanes vs. Blizzards.
The most dangerous thing about a blizzard is being stuck in your car. That's how people die, and it is really human stupidity, not Mother Nature. You need shelter and warmth during a blizzard.
Hurricanes are completely different. First of all, Hurricanes are Named. Second of all, the storms are a long time comin' - they sit and spin and gain strength. Third of all, hurricanes are deadly of themselves.

Bird Flu, Avian Flu, is spreading. This is something very dangerous. Don't eat chicken. I stopped eating chicken months ago, but I have had chicken recently because I'm being fed by my neighbors, bless them. NO MORE EATING CHICKEN. Chicken? Little? I also stopped feeding the cats anything chicken based months ago, and wait until you see the whale story.
My opinion is that it is a mutant virus, feeding upon mutant birds. Viruses are smart - they need a host in order to survive. The fowl for food industry has become pretty disgusting over the years. Now there is a new class of fowl, mutated from the original species because the bird was taken out of its original habitat, and a new mutant virus. Good fit.
Nobody can figure out the path this virus is taking, or why. Now, with this new update, it seems that wild birds are being infected. That means that the virus has mutated again. Just like in "The Andromeda Strain", Michael Crichton's first book.

It is being carried by migrating birds, so all countries on their flight paths are vulnerable.
"In some ways we would have expected it earlier in Italy," said Dr. Juan Lubroth, a senior veterinarian at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome.

The Italian outbreak seems to have been a model of early detection, underlining how bird flu can be controlled in countries that have the money and the scientific resources to do it.

Recent outbreaks in poor countries like Nigeria, Turkey and Iraq have percolated for months before they were discovered, allowing the virus to spread widely to commercial chicken flocks and even to humans.
While the A(H5N1) virus currently does not readily spread from human to human, scientists worry that it will mutate into a form that can, setting off a devastating worldwide human pandemic.

That is the first time I've heard it said that the virus is following the migratory bird routes.

Parashat BeShalach blew my mind. I've never heard the Song of the Sea sung so beautifully.

My soul soared within the inner secrets of the sanctity.

My physical pain is unbearable. A spasm in my left hip and glut muscle last night left me wasted. I was sure it was the end for me. I've never felt such pain. When I saw the muscle twitching and realized it was a spasm, I hurled my body against any available protruding hard surface to break the spasm. It broke, I don't remember how.

This is one of the quintessential paradoxes of existence for me - why the pain and suffering.

The pain is weakening me.

In the meantime, I'll muse through the pain.

This New York Times story is creating a big too doo.

I myself, cannot sleep. Not a good sleeper here. Every since I was a tiny little one.
But it seems that sleep deprivation is a large part of this western culture that has emergeed in the 21st century.

I am not in anyway agreeing with anything he says. I just wanted to post it because it is a cool new link for me, I like to hear what is coming out of Israel, this guy Phil is relating Torah portion to current events, which I like. He seems to be an expert on the lunar calendar. He mentions that Shevat and January were in sync, last occurred in 1930. I mentioned that in my blog too.
Again, I'm not in any way agreeing with him.

I need to rant a bit here, and say that the Judaic email news group had so much fighting and judgment, ego and rudeness, that I had to leave. It made me sad and angry. But then again, I tend to be naive.

whilst studying, i'm learning about this tree holiday in the Hebrew calendar and in kabbalah.

It is definitely a nature holdiay, coming within the month of Shevat which is the letter tzadik which is connection to the divine in all 3 worlds, world, souls, and divinity, I think we're able to capture the aspect of the Divine that manifests in nature. I'll have to find a good Henry David Thoreau quote.

The earliest ripening fruit in Eretz Israel is the almond, so to mark the calendar almonds were watched for their blossoming.

An attempt to coax Marra out into open waters using specialist equipment failed last week.
Tony Woodley, a spokesman for the British Divers Marine Life Rescue group, said the rescue was launched over concerns about the dolphin's skin which had been bleached by salt water.

Musing on Trees Begins :)

1 Shevat 5766.

Starting to muse on trees. Aquarius, the water bearer, bringing the water of life to the roots of the tree which is the Tree of Life. Torah is referred to as Etz Chaim also.
I like the way trees look silhoueted against the sky. It all goes back to marking time for the harvest, dun'n't it.
This is the 7th year i've been noticing that trees are leaving the planet. hmmmmm.
{ha i still have my fiber optic tree going. it is fascinating, because the colours do not reveal the same as they did during the holiday season. hmmmmm. in my inner eye, The Tree is ablaze with glowing energies as are we. Lots and lots of lights alive. I built one in a virtual reality once. it was pretty. I named it Tree of Life :D}.

The seven kinds of fruit found in Eretz Yisrael are wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranites, olives and dates.

bloopers and poopers i can't get the pic up for a change. ah well. i know my way around that now. i just have to do it in a separate post.

bi-Shevat of the solstice, and it is fitting that it should be the New Year for trees."

The 13th-century Arab geographer Qazwini states in his cosmography that on the day following the second ember, the fifteenth of Shevat, roses, jasmines, and narcissus are planted.

Shevat - Aquarius - The Water Bearer

Shevat = Aquarius Hebrew Name D’li or deli.

Lets see what we can find out about Shevat that will help to dechiper this tangible energy shift.
I for one am oh so glad to shift from Tevet into Shevat. Tevet and I don’t get along so well. Sigh. I guess that’s why I was raised by Capricorns. Sigh. Why can't I just be a happy go lucky gal.

Shevat is the 11th month of the Hebrew Calendar.
Tu B’Shevat, the 15th of Shevat, is the New Year of Trees. You’re supposed to eat the 7 species of fruit from Eretz Yisrael on this day.

The letter for the month of Shevat is the Tzadik – it looks a lot like the ayin. Tzadik is the 18th letter of the Aleph Bet, Gematria 90.

this is ayin, the letter for Tevet.

This is Tzadik, Letter for Shevat.

For Final Tdazik, we need to look at the full Aleph Bet Chart. I need visuals.

The following is from Rabbi G http://www.inner.org/. Some of it is old and isn’t on the site anymore. But phew, I ‘ve got it printed.

The word Tzadik means righteous one. A Tzadik is Holy Master, one who has the ability to reveal and draw down Divinity into the physical.

{by the by, some of this is paraphrased, but this is what Rabbi G says- of course I’ll use quotes duh}

“The Tzadik lives by his faith”.. The form of the letter Tzadik, or tzadi, resembles that of the aleph more than any other letter. The 22 letters of the alef-beit pair into 11 form mates, the 2 letters whose forms most closely resemble one another, as taught in Kabbalah. Ah. Here is why I’m feeling the energy of Shevat in a familiar way. It is Da'at. And we just started Shemot, Exodus, and Moshe is Da’at too. I have to be careful when I’m connecting to Da'at – I can go too far sometimes. But I love it. Ah ha. Here’s some gematria my favourite.

Tu B’Shevat, the New Year of Trees is the 15th middle day of Shevat. The Rabinnic word for tree, “ilan” = 91, the sum of the letters aleph = 1, and Tzadik = 90 = 91.

I love the numbers.

According to Rabbi G, the gematria 90 means total consciousness – of worlds, souls, and Divinity. That’s heavy duty.

Aquarius is an air sign, and is left column, fire, of air. Saturn is the ruling planet for Aquarius, and as the synchronicity goes, Saturn is now visible in the Northern Hemisphere about 2 hours after dark. Saturn is glowing yellow. During Scorpio ruled by Mars the planet Mars was visible in the night sky, and now during the month of Shevat Saturn is visible. Uranus, more recently discovered, also rules Aquarius. The probe they just sent off to Pluto will pass Uranus on the way. Hi Uranus. Hmmmm. We’re getting dosed with the energy to move us upwards and outwards – wheeeeee Da’’at whoa eeeeeee.

So, our eyes were opened in Tevet to allow us to “life up thine eyes” now being able to connect to the Divine consciousness instead of the arousal of the anger of righteous indignation.

The sense is eating and the organ is stomach.

It calms me to do this study, because it enable me to see the synchronicity, ans to feel that perhaps I’m not crazy at all. After all, it has been studied for milennia, and I'm even beginning to understand the Ari. so i'm heping to reveal the concealed. Every drop of water together fills the pail.

Climate Expert Says NASA Tried to Silence Him

The top climate scientist at NASA says the Bush administration has tried to stop him from speaking out since he gave a lecture last month calling for prompt reductions in emissions of greenhouse gases linked to global warming.

The scientist, James E. Hansen, longtime director of the agency's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, said in an interview that officials at NASA headquarters had ordered the public affairs staff to review his coming lectures, papers, postings on the Goddard Web site and requests for interviews from journalists.

Dr. Hansen said he would ignore the restrictions. "They feel their job is to be this censor of information going out to the public," he said.

Dean Acosta, deputy assistant administrator for public affairs at the space agency, said there was no effort to silence Dr. Hansen. "That's not the way we operate here at NASA," Mr. Acosta said. "We promote openness and we speak with the facts."

He said the restrictions on Dr. Hansen applied to all National Aeronautics and Space Administration personnel. He added that government scientists were free to discuss scientific findings, but that policy statements should be left to policy makers and appointed spokesmen.

Mr. Acosta said other reasons for requiring press officers to review interview requests were to have an orderly flow of information out of a sprawling agency and to avoid surprises. "This is not about any individual or any issue like global warming," he said. "It's about coordination."

Dr. Hansen strongly disagreed with this characterization, saying such procedures had already prevented the public from fully grasping recent findings about climate change that point to risks ahead

"Communicating with the public seems to be essential," he said, "because public concern is probably the only thing capable of overcoming the special interests that have obfuscated the topic."

Dr. Hansen, 63, a physicist who joined the space agency in 1967, directs efforts to simulate the global climate on computers at the Goddard Institute in Morningside Heights in Manhattan.

Since 1988, he has been issuing public warnings about the long-term threat from heat-trapping emissions, dominated by carbon dioxide, that are an unavoidable byproduct of burning coal, oil and other fossil fuels. He has had run-ins with politicians or their appointees in various administrations, including budget watchers in the first Bush administration and Vice President Al Gore.

In 2001, Dr. Hansen was invited twice to brief Vice President Dick Cheney and other cabinet members on climate change. White House officials were interested in his findings showing that cleaning up soot, which also warms the atmosphere, was an effective and far easier first step than curbing carbon dioxide.

He fell out of favor with the White House in 2004 after giving a speech at the University of Iowa before the presidential election, in which he complained that government climate scientists were being muzzled and said he planned to vote for Senator John Kerry.

But Dr. Hansen said that nothing in 30 years equaled the push made since early December to keep him from publicly discussing what he says are clear-cut dangers from further delay in curbing carbon dioxide.

In several interviews with The New York Times in recent days, Dr. Hansen said it would be irresponsible not to speak out, particularly because NASA's mission statement includes the phrase "to understand and protect our home planet."

He said he was particularly incensed that the directives had come through telephone conversations and not through formal channels, leaving no significant trails of documents.
Dr. Hansen's supervisor, Franco Einaudi, said there had been no official "order or pressure to say shut Jim up." But Dr. Einaudi added, "That doesn't mean I like this kind of pressure being applied."

The fresh efforts to quiet him, Dr. Hansen said, began in a series of calls after a lecture he gave on Dec. 6 at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco. In the talk, he said that significant emission cuts could be achieved with existing technologies, particularly in the case of motor vehicles, and that without leadership by the United States, climate change would eventually leave the earth "a different planet."

The administration's policy is to use voluntary measures to slow, but not reverse, the growth of emissions.

After that speech and the release of data by Dr. Hansen on Dec. 15 showing that 2005 was probably the warmest year in at least a century, officials at the headquarters of the space agency repeatedly phoned public affairs officers, who relayed the warning to Dr. Hansen that there would be "dire consequences" if such statements continued, those officers and Dr. Hansen said in interviews.

Among the restrictions, according to Dr. Hansen and an internal draft memorandum he provided to The Times, was that his supervisors could stand in for him in any news media interviews.

Mr. Acosta said the calls and meetings with Goddard press officers were not to introduce restrictions, but to review existing rules. He said Dr. Hansen had continued to speak frequently with the news media.

But Dr. Hansen and some of his colleagues said interviews were canceled as a result.
In one call, George Deutsch, a recently appointed public affairs officer at NASA headquarters, rejected a request from a producer at National Public Radio to interview Dr. Hansen, said Leslie McCarthy, a public affairs officer responsible for the Goddard Institute.

handwritten notes taken during the conversation, Ms. McCarthy said Mr. Deutsch called N.P.R. "the most liberal" media outlet in the country. She said that in that call and others, Mr. Deutsch said his job was "to make the president look good" and that as a White House appointee that might be Mr. Deutsch's priority.
But she added: "I'm a career civil servant and Jim Hansen is a scientist. That's not our job. That's not our mission. The inference was that Hansen was disloyal."

He's not trying to create a war over this," said Larry D. Travis, an astronomer who is Dr. Hansen's deputy at Goddard, "but really feels very strongly that this is an obligation we have as federal scientists, to inform the public."

Dr. Travis said he walked into Ms. McCarthy's office in mid-December at the end of one of the calls from Mr. Deutsch demanding that Dr. Hansen be better controlled.

In an interview on Friday, Ralph J. Cicerone, an atmospheric chemist and the president of the National Academy of Sciences, the nation's leading independent scientific body, praised Dr. Hansen's scientific contributions and said he had always seemed to describe his public statements clearly as his personal views.

"He really is one of the most productive and creative scientists in the world," Dr. Cicerone said. "I've heard Hansen speak many times and I've read many of his papers, starting in the late 70's. Every single time, in writing or when I've heard him speak, he's always clear that he's speaking for himself, not for NASA or the administration, whichever administration it's been."

The fight between Dr. Hansen and administration officials echoes other recent disputes. At climate laboratories of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, for example, many scientists who routinely took calls from reporters five years ago can now do so only if the interview is approved by administration officials in Washington, and then only if a public affairs officer is present or on the phone.

I'm not promoting this site or anything. But planting a tree is a lovely thing to do methinks. Talk to trees and notice them. Because . Just Because. I haven't been doing it a lot in Florida, but I do talk to my little Red Maple that I planted because the original tree got killed by Hurricane Charlie in 04.

I belong to this group called "Spiritual Cinema Club" {oy, never watched even one of the CD's} because they plant a tree when you join. I'm a sucker.

Each day until Tu B'Shevat I'm going to do a tree poem or a tree quote above the news story. It was a little disappointing doing the web surf on tree poetry. Maybe it has something to do with the story below. I'm always musing thinking and looking for synchronicity.

US plans to 'fight the net' revealed

A newly declassified document gives a fascinating glimpse into the US military's plans for "information operations" - from psychological operations, to attacks on hostile computer networks.

Bloggers beware.

As the world turns networked, the Pentagon is calculating the military opportunities that computer networks, wireless technologies and the modern media offer.

From influencing public opinion through new media to designing "computer network attack" weapons, the US military is learning to fight an electronic war.

The declassified document is called "Information Operations Roadmap". It was obtained by the National Security Archive at George Washington University using the Freedom of Information Act.

Officials in the Pentagon wrote it in 2003. The Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, signed it.
Information Operations Roadmap
Most computers will open PDF documents automatically, but you may need to download Adobe Acrobat Reader.

The "roadmap" calls for a far-reaching overhaul of the military's ability to conduct information operations and electronic warfare. And, in some detail, it makes recommendations for how the US armed forces should think about this new, virtual warfare.

The document says that information is "critical to military success". Computer and telecommunications networks are of vital operational importance.

Propaganda

The operations described in the document include a surprising range of military activities: public affairs officers who brief journalists, psychological operations troops who try to manipulate the thoughts and beliefs of an enemy, computer network attack specialists who seek to destroy enemy networks

All these are engaged in information operations.

Perhaps the most startling aspect of the roadmap is its acknowledgement that information put out as part of the military's psychological operations, or Psyops, is finding its way onto the computer and television screens of ordinary Americans.

"Information intended for foreign audiences, including public diplomacy and Psyops, is increasingly consumed by our domestic audience," it reads.

"Psyops messages will often be replayed by the news media for much larger audiences, including the American public," it goes on.

The document's authors acknowledge that American news media should not unwittingly broadcast military propaganda. "Specific boundaries should be established," they write. But they don't seem to explain how.
"
In this day and age it is impossible to prevent stories that are fed abroad as part of psychological operations propaganda from blowing back into the United States - even though they were directed abroad," says Kristin Adair of the National Security Archive.

Credibility problem

Public awareness of the US military's information operations is low, but it's growing - thanks to some operational clumsiness.

When it describes plans for electronic warfare, or EW, the document takes on an extraordinary tone. It seems to see the internet as being equivalent to an enemy weapons system

Late last year, it emerged that the Pentagon had paid a private company, the Lincoln Group, to plant hundreds of stories in Iraqi newspapers. The stories - all supportive of US policy - were written by military personnel and then placed in Iraqi publications.

And websites that appeared to be information sites on the politics of Africa and the Balkans were found to be run by the Pentagon.

But the true extent of the Pentagon's information operations, how they work, who they're aimed at, and at what point they turn from informing the public to influencing populations, is far from clear.

The roadmap, however, gives a flavour of what the US military is up to - and the grand scale on which it's thinking.

It reveals that Psyops personnel "support" the American government's international broadcasting. It singles out TV Marti - a station which broadcasts to Cuba - as receiving such support.

It recommends that a global website be established that supports America's strategic objectives.
But no American diplomats here, thank you. The website would use content from "third parties with greater credibility to foreign audiences than US officials".

It also recommends that Psyops personnel should consider a range of technologies to disseminate propaganda in enemy territory: unmanned aerial vehicles, "miniaturized, scatterable public address systems", wireless devices, cellular phones and the internet.
'
Fight the net'

When it describes plans for electronic warfare, or EW, the document takes on an extraordinary tone.

It seems to see the internet as being equivalent to an enemy weapons system.

"Strategy should be based on the premise that the Department [of Defense] will 'fight the net' as it would an enemy weapons system," it reads.

The slogan "fight the net" appears several times throughout the roadmap.

The authors warn that US networks are very vulnerable to attack by hackers, enemies seeking to disable them, or spies looking for intelligence.

"Networks are growing faster than we can defend them... Attack sophistication is increasing... Number of events is increasing."

US digital ambition

And, in a grand finale, the document recommends that the United States should seek the ability to "provide maximum control of the entire electromagnetic spectrum".

US forces should be able to "disrupt or destroy the full spectrum of globally emerging communications systems, sensors, and weapons systems dependent on the electromagnetic spectrum".

Consider that for a moment.
The US military seeks the capability to knock out every telephone, every networked computer, every radar system on the planet.
Are these plans the pipe dreams of self-aggrandising bureaucrats? Or are they real?

The fact that the "Information Operations Roadmap" is approved by the Secretary of Defense suggests that these plans are taken very seriously indeed in the Pentagon.

And that the scale and grandeur of the digital revolution is matched only by the US military's ambitions for it.

I had started reading a new book,
Reading the Enemy's Mind: Inside Star Gate--America's Psychic Espionage Program Paul Smith Format: HardcoverPub. Date: December 2004
I couln't read it - it was too intense and too real, and I didn't like the in depth explanations about remote viewing. I've been keeping informed on remote viewing and psychic espionage by Russian friend Marina who has been reading the stories of these ex soviet psychic viewers in russian. They are all out of work now, so they're writing their experiences.
I forwarded the book to a friend.

I see the internet as an eternal library where I can look up the words to The Lovesong Of J Alfred Prufrock, or lyrics to a song, or celestial phenomona, An Instant Library. I often think, if my father had lived to see the internet. He was such a news freak. Sinchel would have loved it. And I like to read news online so my fingers don't get filthy with newsprint, and then it gets all over my face and my white t shirt and I looke like a chimney sweep.

The time coinciding is because it was a leap year. 5766 is not leap year.

The extended narrative of the ten plagues that God visits upon the Egyptians now begins. The first plague turns the Nile to blood. (Last year, we read about water turning to blood the week after the devastating tsunami in Asia.) The theme of the plagues is "that Egypt will know that I am God" a phrase that recurs ten times for each of the plagues. It is the answer to Pharaoh's retort: "Who is the Lord that I should heed God and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord nor will I let Israel go." (Ex. 5:2). Indeed, this phrase is also repeated four times in our prophetic passage (Ez. 28:26b; 29:9; 29:16; 29:21).

Huge quake off Indonesian coast
A massive underwater earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 has struck off the eastern coast of Indonesia, according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake reportedly took place at 0158 local time on Saturday morning (1658 GMT on Friday) in the Banda Sea.

There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

In December 2004, a huge earthquake off Indonesia's coast killed hundreds of thousands of people by triggering a tsunami across the Indian Ocean.

There is no immediate risk of a tsunami from the latest quake, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre reports.

According to the US Geological Survey, the epicentre of the quake was at a point some 195km (120 miles) south of the city of Ambon at a depth some 342km (212 miles) below sea level.

People in Ambon fled their homes in panic when the two-minute long quake struck, the Associated Press news agency quotes internet news site, Detik.com, as saying.

Indonesia's location along a boundary between continental plates makes it prone to earthquakes and volcanic activity.

The 2004 tsunami had a magnitude of 9 and killed more than 130,000 people in Indonesia's western province of Banda Aceh.

Tens of thousands more died when giant sea waves triggered by the quake lashed the shores of Thailand, Sri Lanka and southern India.

Another strong earthquake in early 2005 killed almost 1,000 people on the Indonesian island of Nias.

Two intensive-care specialists at a long-term care facility met on Wednesday with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s doctors to talk about his future care.

According to a spokeswoman for Hadassah Ein Karem Hospital in Jerusalem, Sharon's condition has not changed significantly and he remains comatose.

Dr. Ben-Zion Khromchensky and Leon Sezbon, intensive care specialists from Beit Levenstein Rehabilitation Center, also met with several members of Sharon’s family.

Yael Bossem-Levy, Hadassah spokeswoman, did not indicate whether Sharon would be moved to the facility, a long-term rehabilitation center in Ra’anana. She said, however, that there were no immediate plans to do so. She also declined to say whether Sharon is still receiving medication.

Sharon remains in serious but stable condition after suffering a massive stroke on January 4.
He is unconscious and breathing spontaneously with the assistance of a respirator, and responds to pain stimuli.

Doctors not connected with Sharon’s care have said that the Prime Minister might still return to consciousness, but that the possibility is remote.

Dr. Avraham Lazri commented that based on reports he has seen, Sharon is in a “vegetative state." Lazri is Deputy Hospital Director and head of the Brain Injury Department at Reut, another long-term care facility.

Lazri hastened to add that Sharon’s condition does not completely meet the medical definition of a vegetative state.

A patient in a vegetative state can breathe without the assistance of a respirator and his condition remains stable even without medication.

In a vegetative state the patient seems to be unaware of his surroundings but shows a low level of consciousness in which he may open his eyes, cry or laugh – none of which means he has regained consciousness, according to an intensive-care specialist quoted by Haaretz.R

Responses to pain stimuli, such as those exhibited by the Prime Minister, are the signs that
differentiate a vegetative state from a deep coma.

“The tendency in the world is to wait six months from the time of the stroke to say whether or not someone will fully regain consciousness,” he said.

Nonetheless, said Lazri, the severity of Sharon’s stroke, combined with his age and medical history, is working against him.

Their Republican opponents are in turn denouncing them as "pharisees," a favorite term of liberals for politicians who exploit religion

Democrats in both states have introduced bills authorizing school districts to teach courses modeled after a new textbook, "The Bible and Its Influence." It was produced by the nonpartisan, ecumenical Bible Literacy Project and provides an assessment of the Bible's impact on history, literature and art that is academic and detached, if largely laudatory.

The Democrats who introduced the bills said they hoped to compete with Republicans for conservative Christian voters. "Rather than sitting back on our heels and then being knocked in our face, we are going to respond in a thoughtful way," said Kasim Reed, a Georgia state senator from Atlanta and one of the sponsors of the bill. "We are not going to give away the South anymore because we are unwilling to talk about our faith."

Dead Sea is in 'Deep' Trouble
The Dead Sea is disappearing, experts told President Moshe Katsav on Wednesday. The water level has fallen some 25 meters in 120 years, leaving the lowest spot in the world even lower.

President Katsav toured the area and was shocked to learn that the Dead Sea is now standing at 417 meters below sea level. At present the water is dropping at the alarming rate of a meter each year.

If immediate steps are not taken to remedy the situation, the mineral-rich water will drop to 440 meters below sea level by 2025, and another 25 meters by 2050, according to a report by the Ministry of National Infrastructures’ chief scientist Professor Michael Byeth.

The reasons for the destruction, he told Katsav, are numerous and complex.

Before the 1960’s, said the report, a drop was due to a lack of rain and a drought in the Dead Sea’s drainage basin.

Since that time, however, the National Water Carrier has redirected water from the Kinneret to the rest of the country, severely reducing the flow to the Dead Sea.

With the creation of Jordan’s Abdullah Canal, the flow to the sea slowed even more.

Syria’s dam on the Jordan River’s main tributary, the Yarmukh River, also contributed to the drop in fresh water supply to the area.

Worse, evaporation and drying procedures by Israeli and Jordanian chemical extraction plants have now essentially turned the southern basin into an artificial evaporation pool for the Dead Sea Works. The southernmost portion of the sea has already been seperated by land from the rest of the sea.

Chemical extractions in the southernmost basin damage the remainder of the sea, as salt has been rapidly accumulating in the nearby resort area.

The salt accumulation at the bottom of the sea bed has been artificially raising the water level there by 20 centimeters per year. This threatens both existing infrastructures and the dozen or so hotels along the southern strip.

Anti-Zionism at Davos

Klaus Schwab, executive director of the World Economic Forum, issued an apology this afternoon after a bitter controversy broke out over an article calling for the boycott of Israel that was published in the Forum's Global Agenda magazine, distributed widely to the 2,500 attendees of this year's conference.

The article which was also distributed at the Zurich airport and various hotels, was written by Mazin Qumsiyeh, a geneticist. The article equates Zionism and racism.

In a release this afternoon Schwab stated, "With great concern and pain, I just learned that the Global Agenda, a publication distributed to our members at the Annual Meeting 2006, contains an article calling for a boycott of Israel. This article is totally in contradition to my own and the Forum's, mission and values."

He said that the article appeared because of an "unacceptable failure in the editorial process, specifically an insufficiently short period for review of content - for which there is no excuse."

One attendee said the Forum was considering tearing the article out of the remaining copies of the Global Agenda magazine.

This is really fascinating, because as I was getting ready to post the update on little bottle-nose, the headline changed from:

"Whale died from dehydration" to Whale died from multiple causes. It changed right before mine eyes. Did I zap into a parallel universe for a second? Or did I miss the true story?
Interesting, kabbalistic, quantum, and musable.

Whale died from 'multiple causes'

A post-mortem examination on the whale which became stranded in the River Thames showed it died from dehydration, muscle damage and failing kidneys.

The preliminary findings showed it had been unable to feed for three days.

The 19.2ft (5.85m) female northern bottle-nosed whale died on Saturday as rescuers tried to take it back out to the open sea.

It first surfaced on Friday after mistakenly swimming into the North Sea and up the Thames, experts said.

They said it may have been trying to head west to the Atlantic Ocean where it could feed on deep sea squid, but made a wrong turning, ending up near Chelsea Bridge in the heart of London.

Bacterial infection

Without its normal squid diet, it was unable to rehydrate, they said.

Scientists examined the animal's body for up to eight hours at the dockside in Denton in Kent, and samples were then taken back to the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) for further analysis.

This showed it had a minor cut near her eye, but had been in good health and there was no evidence of any internal injury.

Boost for whale conservation

Further tests to be carried out over the next few weeks will determine whether there was any bacterial infection or pollutants in the whale's body, such as heavy metals.

In the meantime, the bones have been given to London's Natural History Museum and are in the process of being cleaned.

The entire skeleton will be kept for scientific research and made available to scientists from around the world.

On Saturday evening, the whale rapidly became disoriented and distressed.

It was then that it was decided to put it down for its own welfare, said ZSL's veterinary pathologist Dr Paul Jepson, who carried out the post-mortem tests.

"While I was drawing the lethal injection, she died," he said.

"The last few days have been an unforgettable and ultimately sad experience for us all, and we are now determined that the whale did not die in vain.

"The incident has demonstrated a clear message of the nation's passion for these animals and their conservation."

Dr Jepson dismissed speculation that the whale's death was caused by anti-submarine sonar from Navy vessels.

Following worldwide coverage of the story, the British Divers Marine Life Rescue group, the small charity behind the rescue operation has received more than £10,000 in donations.

The bill for attempting the rescue was about £5,000.

The whale died, and I cried.
Why did I cry?
I cried for everything.
The little whale was lost and sick. He found the River Thames, and swam it. All persons who saw him lost were deeply moved. They wanted him to be fine. A rescue attempt was made to take him back to sea, but he died.
A whale is a mammal. Whales have hearts and cardio vascular systems. Who are we to say that the whale does not possess an emotional system also? The whale had a heart attack. Here is the symmetry. The hearts of Londoners and the World were moved by the whale. The moral of the story. We should care about every single sentient being on the planet as our hearts were moved by the bottle-nosed whale, lost, could not find his way home.
The whale showed that it is possible for everybody to feel the same thing.
I believe that. We , as a species, human, are capable of it. It may take a lot of effort and a lot of change, but there is the truth of the matter.

Lost whale dies after rescue bid

A whale that became stranded in the River Thames has died after a massive rescue attempt to save its life.

The 18ft (5m) northern bottle-nosed whale was first spotted in the river on Friday and rescuers began an attempt to save it on Saturday morning.

But the whale died at about 1900 GMT on Saturday as rescuers transported it on a barge towards deeper water in the Thames Estuary.

It was moved after being placed in a special pontoon near Battersea Bridge.

Alan Knight, from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) which led the rescue operation, said the animal died after it began to convulse while it was still on the barge.

It has been a helter skelter ride all the way through. It is a sad end to a very long day," he said.
"Basically this is probably the right thing to happen in the end.
"If it had continued in this way we certainly wouldn't have released it.
"Perhaps this has saved that very difficult decision."

Rescuers tried to keep the whale cool as they moved it by barge

Earlier, close to Battersea Bridge, thousands of onlookers applauded as rescuers placed the whale on to a pontoon to move it from shallow water.

It was winched on to the Port of London Authority barge where it was laid on an inflatable raft functioning as a "makeshift whale mattress".

As the whale was carried upstream towards the estuary a vet administered antibiotics.
Earlier, naturalist and television presenter, Terry Nutkins, said the rescue operation was the wrong thing to do and that the animal needed space.

He told BBC Radio Five Live: "It wouldn't know what was happening, it was surrounded by boats...it would have been absolutely terrified as well as being stressed because it wouldn't be used to noises of propellers or engines.

"It was kept...like a goldfish in a bowl. So, it doesn't surprise me that it's died."
However, he later concluded he had "no doubts" the rescue operation had been the best way to try to save the whale.

Pod spotted

You can't leave a whale stranded in the Thames and we did the best we could," he added.
The whale, which could weigh about four tonnes, was first spotted at on Friday morning by a man on a train.

There were reports of a pod of whales in the Thames estuary earlier in the week, and it was possible that the whale had become separated from this group.

It was the first sighting of the endangered species in the Thames since records began nearly a century ago.

An expert is carrying out a post-mortem examination on a whale which died after becoming stranded in the River Thames.

It will be carried out at Gravesend in Kent where the whale was unloaded and take about six hours.

Bottle-nosed whales normally live in the northern Atlantic, diving deeply and travelling in pods. They can reach eight metres long, the size of a red double-decker London bus.

When sick, old or injured, whales often get disoriented and swim away from their pod, said Mark Simmonds, science director at the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society.

Last week, marine officials said they saw two bottle-nosed whales in northeastern Scotland when the mammals are normally seen in northwestern Scotland.
That, coupled with the sighting Friday of a second whale in a different part of the Thames, could suggest that something is disrupting the whales, said Sadler.

There are many possible reasons whales become disoriented.
Scientists have said fluctuating ocean temperatures, predators, lack of food and even sonar from ships can send them into waters that threaten their survival.
"It's used to using acoustics to find its way around. What will happen is that the reflection from the noise from boats, from water lapping up around, will ring inside the whale's head," said Tony Martin, a senior scientist with the British Antarctic Survey."It's going to be very confused. It's already stranded twice. The poor creature doesn't know where to go."

Scientists open Stardust capsule

Scientists in Houston, Texas, are "excited and awed" after opening the Stardust capsule which returned from space with samples of cometary dust.

The lead scientist on the US space agency mission said there were "more than a million" specks of material in the capsule's sample-return canister.

The Stardust probe released the capsule as it flew back to Earth after a 4.6-billion-km (2.8-billion-mile) trip.

The disc-shaped vessel landed in the Utah desert on Sunday.

The comet particles and interstellar dust it holds are the first ever returned to Earth; and will shed light on the origins of the Solar System, scientists say.

The canister, which was packed away inside a protective shell, was opened after being moved to Nasa's Johnson Space Center (JSC).

Exceeding expectations
Stardust returned to Earth after a seven-year mission to collect particles from Comet Wild-2 and samples of interstellar dust streaming into our Solar System from other parts of the galaxy.

The comet dates from the formation of the Solar System 4.6 billion years ago.

It exceeds all expectations," said Donald Brownlee, a University of Washington astronomy professor who is lead scientist for Stardust.

"It's a huge success. We can see lots of impacts. There are big ones, there are small ones."
Professor Brownlee calculated there might be more than a million microscopic specks of dust embedded in Stardust's aerogel collector.

Aerogel, a remarkable material that is as much as 99.9% empty space, greatly reduced the stress of impact on the particles, he said.

Carrot-shaped

The carrot-shaped tracks of much larger particles are visible in the aerogel from several feet away, Professor Brownlee added, and in some of the tracks, the black comet dust is visible at the end of the track.

One track, he said, "is almost large enough to put your little finger into it."

Professor Brownlee said the mission already has its first scientific result: the first cometary particle the team looked at turned out to be a mineral grain.

The aerogel is contained within collector trays"There's been a lot of discussion over whether comets contain minerals or glass or water," he told journalists in a news conference at the JSC.
Stardust co-investigator Mike Zolensky added that some of the impacts could have been from grains containing ice, and that some of the water from this ice could still be retained by the aerogel.

"We have locations where particles went in and exploded. You can see little grains curling off in all directions from the cavity. That could be a particle that was an icy, dirty grain where the water evaporated," said Dr Zolensky.

"Aerogel combines with water and if you get rid of that and dry it out, not all of the water goes away. Some of it stays behind, bonded to the aerogel. It's possible that some of the cometary water is locked up in the interiors of the cavities around these big impacts."

Preliminary analysis

About 150 scientists around the world will get a chance to carry out a preliminary analysis of the contents, including researchers at the UK's Open University (OU).

Stardust took remarkable pictures of Comet Wild 2 "A very important part of the study of cometary grains is the study of organics.
We know comets contain abundant organics and abundant water. We're not sure what kinds of organics are in there," said Mike Zolensky.
"But we think that most of the Earth's water and organics - most of the molecules in our bodies - came from comets."

Members of the public are being asked to sift through millions of pictures of the gel to locate the precise positions of the tiny grains.

The project, known as Stardust@home, has been set up by researchers at the University of California, Berkeley. Volunteers will be able to access the images via a web-based "virtual microscope".

Pluto probe launches from Florida

The US space agency (Nasa) successfully launched its New Horizons mission to Pluto on Thursday.

The probe lifted off at 1900 GMT aboard an Atlas 5 rocket on a 10-year journey to the planet, some five billion km (three billion miles) from Earth.

The $700m probe will gather information on Pluto and its moons before - it is hoped - pressing on to explore other objects in the outer Solar System.

Pluto is the only remaining planet that has never been visited by a spacecraft.

The spacecraft was launched after being postponed for two consecutive days due to bad weather and technical difficulties.

On Tuesday, controllers stood down the flight due to high winds at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station pad in Florida.

Then a power failure at the Maryland laboratory managing the mission forced that launch attempt to be halted.

Slingshot manoeuvre

Sending up the probe before 3 February means it will be in position to swing by Jupiter on its way to Pluto.
New Horizons will use Jupiter's gravity to pick up speed in a slingshot manoeuvre.

This will increase the probe's speed away from the Sun by nearly 4km/s (9,000mph), allowing the spacecraft to reach the ninth planet by July 2015.

If the launch had been pushed beyond the 3 February, the probe would have been required to take a direct route to Pluto, arriving in 2018 at the earliest.

Some astronomers say Pluto is not a true planet at all, and should be classed instead alongside the small, icy objects which make up the region of space known as the Kuiper Belt.
This region, which lies beyond Neptune, consists of perhaps tens of thousands of icy objects spread out between 30 and 50 times the distance between the Earth and the Sun.

Double planet
Pluto is thought by some to form a "double planet" with its companion Charon.
New Horizons will fly by Pluto and Charon on the same day. The spacecraft's seven instruments will carry out detailed mapping of Pluto's surface features, composition and atmosphere.
"The probe will map the composition of materials on the surface of Pluto [and Charon], which will help tell us what molecules were present during the formation of this system," Dr Stephen Lowry of Queen's University in Belfast, UK, told the BBC News website.

After the Pluto encounter, it is up to Nasa to decide whether to grant the spacecraft an extended mission. Should this happen, mission scientists plan to send New Horizons to visit two Kuiper Belt Objects (KBOs) with diameters of 50km (30 miles) or more.

Scientists believe they can learn about the evolution of the Solar System by studying the Kuiper Belt since it possesses debris left over form its formation.

A capsule containing comet particles and interstellar dust has landed on Earth after a seven-year space mission.

The Stardust probe released the capsule as it flew back to Earth after a 4.6-billion-km (2.8-billion-mile) trip.
The US-built capsule plunged through the atmosphere and touched down in the Utah desert at 0312 (1012 GMT).
Scientists believe the first cometary dust samples ever returned to Earth will shed light on the origins of the Solar System.

"We travelled about three billion miles in space, we visited a comet, grabbed a piece of it and it landed here on Earth this morning," Dr Don Brownlee, Stardust principal investigator, told reporters at a news briefing in Utah.

I fully expect textbooks in the future will have a lot of new information from the samples that landed here this morning."

Fiery descent

The Stardust spacecraft released the 45kg (100lb) capsule at 0557 GMT as it looped past the Earth on its return from interplanetary space.

Mission controllers at the US space agency's (Nasa) Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, clapped and cheered as the capsule began its plunge to Earth.

Four hours after leaving the probe, the capsule entered the Earth's atmosphere 125km (410,000ft) over the Pacific Ocean.

It reached speeds of 46,660km/h (29,000mph) - the fastest re-entry of any manmade probe - and was visible from parts of the American northwest as a streak of light in the sky.

At about 32km altitude (105,000ft), the capsule released a small parachute to slow its descent.
The main parachute opened at about 3km (10,000ft), and brought the capsule down to land on a military base southwest of Salt Lake City.
"All stations, we have touchdown," an announcer declared to a jubilant control room.

First analysis

The capsule was located by helicopter almost an hour after the landing. It was then flown to a nearby laboratory for checks.

On Tuesday, it will be transported to a special lab at Nasa's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, where scientists will get their first chance to examine the precious contents.

I'm very confident we will have samples in there that are the first returned from beyond the Moon," former Stardust project manager, Ken Atkins, told the BBC News website.
"It is magnificent to see something that we saw leave the planet on 7 February 1999 return to the planet here on 15 January 2006."
The highlight of Stardust's seven-year mission was its close encounter with Comet Wild 2 in January 2004.

It swept up particles from the frozen body of ice and dust, flying to within 240km (149 miles) of the comet's core, or nucleus.
As part of its trip, the probe also captured a sprinkling of dust that originated in distant stars.
The Stardust mothership has now completed its main mission and has been sent into orbit around the Sun.

Meanwhile the work of scientists is just beginning. On Tuesday, Nasa experts will open the canister containing the samples which is packed away inside a protective shell.

The capsule is believed to contain about a million particles of comet and interstellar dust left over from the birth of the Solar System 4.6 billion years ago.
They are trapped inside cells filled with an ultra-light solid called aerogel.
About 150 scientists around the world will get a chance to carry out a preliminary analysis of the contents, including researchers at the UK's Open University (OU).

Professor Monica Grady, of the OU's Planetary and Space Science Research Institute (PSSRI), said it would be the most scientifically exciting and technically challenging material with which they had ever had the opportunity to work.
"Imagine trying to pick up a grain that is less than a hundredth of the size of the full stop at the end of this sentence," she said.
"It is amazing to think that such minute specks of dust can carry within them so much information about the origin of stars and planets."

Time capsules

Comets are thought to be cosmic "time capsules", containing material unchanged since the formation of the Sun and planets.
Some even think they may have seeded Earth with the chemical building blocks required for life.

"Because these particles have come from inside a comet, we know that essentially the particles haven't been heated since they became part of the comet, because the comet is made of ice," he told the BBC News website.

"That means that they contain information about the conditions that were present when they were incorporated into the comet.
"That time was four-and-a-half thousand-million years ago, back when the Solar System formed; so what we hope to know from these particles is essentially what the Solar System looked like at that time, and essentially what we're all made of."

They're looking for 100,000 people to help with reading the pictures.

The particles are buried in gel that was exposed to the interstellar dust stream during the probe's seven-year voyage around the Solar System.
Scientists need volunteers to sift through millions of pictures of the gel to locate the few dozen tiny grains.
The project, known as Stardust@home, has been set up by researchers at the University of California, Berkeley.
"No-one has ever had a contemporary interstellar dust particle in the lab, ever, to study," senior fellow Andrew Westphal told the BBC News website. "It is really a unique opportunity."

Virtual microscope

Dr Westphal developed the technique that the US space agency (Nasa) will use to scan the ultra-light gel (aerogel) in which the interstellar dust grains are embedded.

The gel - which is contained within a "honeycomb" of collector trays - will be scanned by an automated microscope at a clean room in Nasa's Johnston Space Center in Houston shortly after landing.
The impacts are almost invisible and can only be found with a microscope with a field of view smaller than a grain of salt.
Volunteers will be able to access the images via a web-based "virtual microscope". To take part, they need a reasonably up-to-date computer with Netscape or Internet Explorer, patience and some spare time.
People who register will have to go through a web-based training session to see if they are suitable. Dr Westphal believes the untrained eye may be better at spotting what amounts to a cosmic needle in a haystack.
"It's probably better for people to look who won't have any pre-conceived notion of what these things look like," said Dr Westphal.

I think this is interesting stuff, stardust and all that. I registered to participate in the sifting. Sounds cool. They give you a virtual microscope on your puter then you look for stardust. I think I'd like to parcipate in that. That's the kind of science I approve of.

Olmert Puts Roadmap at Forefront of Israeli Policy

Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert reiterated Israel’s support for the U.S. backed Road Map initiative for the Arab-Israeli dispute at a meeting Tuesday with President Moshe Katzav.

On the issue of Iran, Olmert said, “I believe that there is a way to ensure that non-conventional weapons don’t wind up in irresponsible hands which can threaten world peace.”

Olmert, formerly of the Likud, now heads the Kadima party, founded a few months ago by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, before he was incapacitated with a debilitating stroke. Regarding demonstrations by Jewish residents in Hevron, Olmert said he will act the way he believes Sharon would have. “I’ll do what I think Arik Sharon would have done…so there will be no hesitation,” he said. “Whoever raises a hand against security personnel, a soldier or policeman, will be punished with all available force, and will be expelled from any place he illegally occupies. This is right regarding Hevron, right regarding Amona (a Jewish community near Ofra), and it’s right in relation to other places.”

I don't like the sound of that. A New Leader has not emerged. Israel is following, not leading. Oh well.

A blogger friend of mine did a fabulous post on Martin Luther King Jr. http://willpowers-cerebytes.blogspot.com/. It took me back and made me think. That's an example of no leader emerging. After Martin Luther King Jr. was taken out, no leader emerged. There still isn't a leader for the Negro Nation. Nor has one emerged for the Jewish people since the Holocaust. No leaders. Just followers. Who is making these policies? I don't even want to think about that. But as everything is running at the speed of synchronization, so the times of change will be planted and the seeds sown.

Everybody seems to agree that something's up.

Taiwan breeds green-glowing pigs

When lit up in the dark, the pigs glow greenScientists in Taiwan say they have bred three pigs that glow in the dark.
They claim that while other researchers have bred partly fluorescent pigs, theirs are the only pigs in the world which are green through and through.
The pigs are transgenic, created by adding genetic material from jellyfish into a normal pig embryo.
The researchers hope the pigs will boost the island's stem cell research, as well as helping with the study of human disease.
The researchers, from National Taiwan University's Department of Animal Science and Technology, say that although the pigs glow, they are otherwise no different from any others.
Taiwan is not claiming a world first. Others have bred partially fluorescent pigs before. But the researchers insist the three pigs they have produced are better.

In daylight, their eyes and skin are green-tinged
They are the only ones that are green from the inside out. Even their heart and internal organs are green, they say.
To create them, DNA from jellyfish was added to about 265 pig embryos which were implanted in eight different pigs.
Four of the pigs became pregnant and three male piglets were born three months ago.

In daylight the researchers say the pigs' eyes, teeth and trotters look green. Their skin has a greenish tinge.
In the dark, shine a blue light on them and they glow torch-light bright.
The scientists will use the transgenic pigs to study human disease. Because the pig's genetic material is green, it is easy to spot.
So if, for instance, some of its stem cells are injected into another animal, scientists can track how they develop without the need for a biopsy or invasive test.
But creating them has not been easy. Many of the altered embryos failed to develop.
The researchers say they hope the new, green pigs will mate with ordinary female pigs to create a new generation - much greater numbers of transgenic pigs for use in research.

WHAT FOR? POOR PIGS :(
YEAH, I CAN REALLY SEE HOW THIS IS GOING TO HELP THE STATE OF THE WORLD. I, myself, personally, can't think of anything that is more important than creating fluorescent green glowing pigs. How about you? Jellyfish and pig dna mixed together? That's disgusting. Where are all the 'failed experiments'? Probably running around saying, 'its not easy being green'. I believe in science, and the inductive and deductive reasoning processes. This isn't science. This is gross grosser grossest. An Abomination. Banal. Humiliating and dishonorable. Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who has replaced Ariel Sharon as the Kadima Party's prime ministerial candidate, is to visit Washington in February, just a month before Israel's national elections. Visits of this type invariably add to the invitee's stature in the perception of Israel's domestic public, and this will therefore help Olmert as the elections approach.

Olmert is also expected to become Israel's Prime Minister in the coming days, when Attorney General Menachem Mazuz declares that Sharon has become permanently incapacitated.In addition, the U.S. has informed the PA and Arab countries that Olmert's stature must be strengthened as the elections approach in order that he "continue the process that Sharon started." So reports the PA's Arabic-language Al-Manar newspaper.U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice issued a statement last night, commending Olmert on his apparent decision to permit eastern Jerusalem Arabs to participate in the PA elections later this month.

Most reports do not note that the Israeli decision stipulates that Hamas ballots will not be allowed into the Jerusalem post offices in which the voting will take place. Olmert informed Rice of this on Tuesday. In any event, the Israeli decision must be finalized at Sunday's Cabinet meeting.

Rice, in her statement praising Olmert's decision, stated the United States' view that there is no place in the political process for groups or individuals who espouse violence and reject Israel’s right to exist. “To participate in a peace process of Israelis and Palestinians," she said, " the Palestinian partner must at least accept Israel's right to exist. To implement agreements on movement and access for the Palestinian territories, the Palestinian partner must be committed to preventing violence."

The Al-Manar newspaper reported that the U.S. is conducting secret contacts with the Palestinian Authority and Arab countries in an effort to have them help strengthen Olmert's stature. The U.S. informed them that it is interested in having Olmert head Kadima and "continue the process that Sharon began to solve the Palestinian-Israel conflict." The paper further reports that the Americans feel that Olmert is a "smart leader who will be able, with his advisors, to lead the peace process and rebuff the political machinations against him."The U.S. even informed Olmert, according to the paper, that it would like him to keep Sharon's advisors on his team, especially Dov Weisglass and Shimon Peres.

The Anger of Righteous Indignation

This month of the arousal of anger of righteous indignation doesn't exactly float my boat.
I'm trying to deal with it a little differently than I have in the past. The anger is aroused. Absolutely positively without a doubt sans doubt. I feel it. Lets get kabbalistic for a moment while i quantumly muse. The anger and the arousal of the anger is there for a reason. When you see things, remember the seeing of the ayin - it the energy of seeing manifesting along with the energy of the anger of righteous indignation. ayin eye seeing, anger liver arousal. hmmmm.

Let me present a few examples now. It is oooohhhhh you don't know how extremely undeniably consumingly difficult it is for me to control the anger and not blog on with total righteous indignation. (punctuation note - commas omitted purposly). There is one thing that I will mention. That just makes me so angry. And I'm having trouble transmuting this - by transmuting, I inferr the concept of changing darkness into light. Here it is. People don't do their jobs anymore. Not only do they not do them, they don't care that they aren't doing them. Everybody from customer service reps (by the way, in case you haven't noticed, there is no such thing as customer service anymore) to doctors. "I don't know". "I'm sorry, I can't help you with that". " You'll have to talk to somebody else because I don't Know." "Sorry" Wow. Blows my head. If I had ever done my job like that - wow. Different times. Different energy. It makes me very angry.

The State of the World makes me very angry. It definitely can be categorized as the anger of righteous indignation. And it most certainly is aroused. We are now in a time of the concealed being revealed. The news drives me insane. History is writing itself as we speak. Ariel Sharon is alive, B'H. He has entered History as a Great Warrior. Fascinating, isn't it. Two weeks ago, everything was different. We , as a global people, are watching history write itself. There is a certain amount of humble honour in that. But it is hard to turn it around. I'm training myself to think with a new seeing. If I truly believe in energy in all its magnificent manifestations, then there must be a way. In the quantum realm, in the place beyond time, space and motion, everything exists. Let me think a new quantum reality, where as a Great Warrior of Eretz Israel lies alive but damaged, there will be a rebirth of compassion between the peoples who share the land. . Simple. But oh so hard to do. But everytime I do it, every time I think it, it becomes a little just a little bit easier. And also because, why not. In a parallel universe it exists. Because all possibilities exist.

Then we have the issue of Global Warming, and the melting of the glaciers. When I think of it, oh I rage. Because WE did it. And now WE have to fix it. The EARTH is recreating herself as I blog, did you know? And when I think of the species that are going extinct, I fume. So instead I think, the glaciers have covered that spot for millions of years. Since the last ice age. The Earth, the earth itself, that is being revealed has never been revealed before. There will be growth. There will be new species adapting to a different climatology. In the new growth, in the recreation, will be the seed of the cure for all disease. Good Quantum Universe, don't ya think?

Believe me, I can rage and fume with the best of them. Notice I'm not using any
U. S. of A. political examples here. Whoa. Gimme a break. That good, I'm not.
And then again, in another seeing, what I know is that there is an awful lot going on. And that still isn't enough. More has to go on.

More change is coming as the train goes rolling down the tracks.

What a beautiful planet we have. What a majestic Universe.

At this point in time, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is out of the political picture.
He may live, but he certainly will not be what he was before. Whenever the word massive is used as an adjective describing an illness or condition, it does not connote something positive.
Now the news media seems to be playing games with us, once again. They are using cryptic language to describe Sharon's medical condition, as well they should. But there is one thing that everybody seems to agree upon -
Israel is without a physical leader.
It will be most interesting to see who and what emerges.
I don't want to give my political views here. The news story exists. To be an objective observer is not easy. I can be me, a student of energy, a student of kabbalah and Torah, a Jew. Amongst a lot of other things that I am, including over emotional.[See previous post entitled Emotional Extremism]. Of course my opinions have judgement within them, I'm human.
During this past hurricane season I used an analytical scientific approach . I had to know exactly what was going on an any given moment, because my very life could depend on that knowledge. Hurricanes cannot be predicted, they are tracked. The news media learned that trick after the Katrina Disaster. We cannot tell you what will happen next, we can just tell you where the storm is and what it is doing now. I'm tracking the Sharon story as if it were a hurricane. It is a storm thrust upon global political consciousness.
What do we call what has happened in Israel? The End of the Sharon Era? Politicians come and go, they've come and gone before. But somehow I feel that this is THE crucial transition for Eretz Israel.
We shall see how the story unfolds.

Meet Elio:
I am of Italian origin, my mother's tongue was French. My grandfather with his family immigrated to Umdurman in The [Anglo-Egyptian] Sudan, after the end of WWI. Egyptian influence was almost non existent despite the name. The administration and governor general were British appointed by His Majesty's government. Our curricula at school was that of GB, hence my main tongue is English. My Italian is not bad, however my French and Arabic speaking abilities are much better than that of Italian. [ Arabic is the language of Northern Sudan].

My parents were traditional Sephardi Orthodox . I do not recall we had a name for our temple, it was known by what it was; "The Jewish Temple" Sephardi and Ashkenazi. There was only one in the whole of the country, now there is none. As a Jew, I am a non-conformist. I do believe in one creator, I believe the Torah is the greatest book ever scribed, and believe that the social laws therein are based on human rights; albeit leaning towards the human male species! The truth I find it difficult to accept many of the rabbinical interpretations of the law, as many of such interpretations are set for the control of the masses, thus imposed the rabbinical power over the then mostly illiterate populace. The Jewish intelligentsia have frequently collided with rabbinical teachings on many a subject. The Orthodox Rabbis resented these movements, and for fear of loosing their grip over power, declared them lawless.

To me a Jew is : when born of a Jew, converted to accept to abide by Jewish law, and to love Hashem with all his soul and all his might. I understand that "his soul" refered to in the Shemãa is one's life, and "might" to mean: use of physical and mental capabilities, social and political influence, including one's wealth. Those who fit this category, in my opinion, include but not limited to: Lord Rothschild, Theodore Hertzel, Chaim Weizmann, Albert Einstien, Dizengoff, David Ben-Gurion, Abba Eban Golda Meir, Moshe Dayan, Yitzhak Rabin, and others. All of those 'modern' heroes who devoted their life and personal wealth to create and protect a sanctuary for all Jews.

Hence, if an Israeli soldier dies fighting for Israel, believing that he is a Jew defending his homeland, and lived as a Jew, he MUST have had the right to be buried by the side of his fallen brethren, even though his mother happened to be a non-Jew. The High Rabbinate was wrong revoking his religion thus depriving him of his due.

As I write this my thoughts are with Ariel Sharon, and wonder who is the next hero who would fit his shoes.

The Energy of Tevet - What a Shift

I feel a definite energy shift happening. I can only liken it to a crash -it isn't like crash and burn, it is more of a crash and shatter, or crashing up against a solid surface.
We've moved from Kislev- Sagittarius-to Tevet- Capricorn. It came through like a bomb. Not a gentle transition, just all of a sudden, totally different. Today, as it is 4thJanuary , is also 4thTevet. The days will coincide until January 29th.
I feel this energy shift. I feel this crashing. I want to know why.
And it isn't just me. People write about the after the holiday blues, everybody is wringing their hands because they spent so much money they don't have during the holiday season, which is now over, and blah. I've been blog surfing, and I would say that 1 out of 3 blogs say something about the lack of money now. You all know the drill.
So I will try to be the esoteric scientist I claim to be, and analysize this . And I'll use the Hebrew calendar, and the letter of the month to try and figure out what's up. Cause me senses doth knowest something is up.
Tevet is considered to be a 'negative' month, because in the month of Tevet the walls of the Holy Temple were first seiged. This led to the falling of both the 1st and 2nd Temples on the 9th of Av, which is in August. Tammuz, Cancer, is another seige month. All the 'negative' months in Judaism are associated with Holy Temple disasters. One of the Rabbi's I studied with said that the energy must come first - the energy for the negative action to be in play was there, so it happened. It seems that 10th Tevet is another fast day. There are 4 fast days in total - 2 majors, Yom Kippur and 9th Av, and 2 minors, 3rd Tishrei and 10th Tevet. I don't do this one. I just do 9th Av and Yom Kippur. Enough with commemorating the suffering, I say. Enough.
So, right away the sages are telling us that something happened in this month that we have to rectify. I don't want to dwell on this part. I can feel the anger in the energy. Rabbi G says that it is the anger of arousal - you must see your own negative inclinations in order to arouse the good - it is the same as the resistance principle. And the dark and the light. We are allowed to have positive anger. We need to be humble, and be able to see ourselves without all the cover ups.
And just as anger is the sense for the month, the Liver is the controlling organ. In the healing/energy modalities I've studied , we are taught that the anger from past lives in stored in the liver. So just the same in kabbalah - liver and anger are associated.

The letter for the month of Tevet is Ayin.
Ayin follows Samech in the Aleph Bet - samech is 15th letter, ayin is 16th.

Ayin's gematria is 70. Ayin means eye. Tevet starts off with the physical act of gazing at the Chanukkah candles, to help us to carry the lights of Chanukkah into our inner seeing. Ayin is a letter which connects us to divine seeing - all sides. Eye in like Eye of the Tiger, or Eye of the Needle - when you can't see but you must see.

The all seeing all knowing eye. The inner eye and the outer eye. In order to see the truth, we need to delve deep. It can be less than pleasant, and I say that with heart, from personal experience. The circle of Samech leads us to the perecption of Ayin - the all seeing eye. Divine gazing. We need to see choices and options, and be able to ascertain right from wrong. From the gematria, we can glean that there are 70 seeings.

This letter has a numerical value of 70 which reminds us of the 70 bulls sacrificed at Sukkot, the 70 interpretations of the Torah, and the 70 nations. To travel from Tiferet to Binah, we must sacrifice our own individual point of view in order to understand all the 70 correct but different ways in which things may be understood. So it means that the energy is connecting thusly - from Binah, left column, feminine, Mother, Ima, The Waters of Life flow from Binah, directly to central Column Tiferet, bypassing the lightening bolt. Binah can only receive from Chochmah, Wisdom. But Binah completes the Supernal Triad by also commecting back to Keter. Binah then goes to Chesed, Mercy, Right Column; then Gevurah, Might/Judgement, Left Column; then Gevurah to Tiferet, Central Column. Because the Right is contained in the Left, and both Left and Right are in the Center. Now the energy is coming straight down Center Column. We're getting dosed. It is up to us to use this gift wisely.

Then , it is our job do bring the divine aspect of seeing with the true inner eye down into the physical, into Malchut.

Ah, studying always does help. Took me 2 days and a lot of research to get this post up.

I also see a correlation here to His Holiness's starting the 12 day Buddhist "Kalachakra". I don't know what that is, but I will most certainly be doing a web surf on it. His Holiness is a Master of Energy, for sure, and I'm sure there is a correlation to the mating of the divine essences.

So, that's the energy we have until 29th January. Fascinating.

Here is Kalachakra. I knew it must be synchronistic. 722 dieties = 722 energy sources. 70 is the number of ayin - 10 x 7. 700 = 70 x 10. 22 letters of the Aleph Bet. The same energy frequencies, described differently.

The Kalachakra Mandala
The Tibetan word for mandala is "kilkhor" which means "centre of the circle with exteriors walls and surrounding environment." Mandalas may be created with precious jewels, flowers, dyed rice, coloured stones, or coloured sand. Sand, traditionally made from crushed precious stones, is considered the most efficacious materials because of the precious substances involved and the great skill required to create the mandalas' exquisite details. Since each grain of sand is charged with the blessings of the ritual process, the entire sand mandala embodies a vast store of spiritual energy.
In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, mandalas are created for rituals of initiation in which a highly qualified teacher grants permission to advanced disciples to engage in the tantric meditation practices. Both the deity, which resides at the centre of the mandala, and the mandala itself are recognised as pure expressions of the Buddha's fully enlightened mind. Symbolically the deity confers the initiations and the mandala is where the initiations takes place. Through the initiations ceremony the seed of enlightenment in each person's mind is nourished by the dynamic process of visualising and contemplating a mandala.
In essence the ceremony involves the transportation of disturbing emotions into beneficial intuition and wisdom. Normally such an initiation is given at the request of an individual or group of people. The altruistic motivation of the artist and sponsor is essential to the creation of mandala.

THE KALACHAKRA MANDALA
Everything in this mandala is the symbolic representation of some aspect of the Kalachakra deity and the deity's universe. There are 722 deities in the mandala which symbolise various manifestations of aspects of consciousness and reality, all part of the ultimate wisdom of the Kalachakra deity. Understanding and interpreting all of the symbols included in the mandala would be like reading the Kalachakra texts, which contains a vast range of teachings from cosmology to epistemology to psychology.
The Kalachakra Tantra is interpreted at three levels referred to as external, internal and alternative. The external concerns the laws of time and space of this physical world and accordingly deals with astronomy, astrology and mathematics. The internal concerns the elements and structure of the human body, including its energy system. The alternative is the doctrine, path and fruit of the actual meditational deity and its circular mandala abode.
The Kalachakra deity resides in the centre of the mandala. His palace consists of our mandala, one within another: the mandala of body, the mandala of speech, that of mind, and the very centre, wisdom and great bliss.
The palace is divided into four quadrants each with walls, gates, and a centre. The colours are specific representations of the elements and mental types. Black, in the east, is associated with the element of winds. The south is red, its elements is fire. The west is yellow, associated with the element of earth, and the north is white, represent water.
The square palace of the 722 deities is seated upon the first concentric circles, the first of which of which represents the earth. The other circles, represent water, fire, wind, space, and consciousness extend beyond the wall of the palace. The outer circles, a representation of the cosmos, is a source of Tibetan astrology. The ten wrathful deities who reside in one of the outer, concentric circles of the mandala serve as its protectors.
The Kalachakra sand mandala is dedicated to peace and physical balance, both for individual and for the world, thanks to the deities carefully among minute human, animal and floral forms, abstract pictographs, and the Sanskrit syllables that comprises the mandala's design.
Although depicted here on a flat surface, the mandala is actually three-dimensional, being a five-storeyed "divine mansion", at the centre of which stands the Kalachakra deity the manifest state of Enlightenment.
A person who simply sees this mandala many feel peace on many levels. According to the Dalai Lama, the Kalachakra deities create a favourable atmosphere, reducing tension and violence in the world. "It is a way of planting a seed, and the seed will have karmic effect. One doesn't need to be present at the Kalachakra ceremony in order to receive its benefits," he explains.

Synchronicity, I say. Concentric circles and levels of reality. With this ceremony the circular is being carried through. Kabbalah is also big on the seed metaphor. That is why the Hebrew calendar is lunar - to capture the seed essence of the month, and to help it grow and blossom with our input.

You may ask, why is a student of kabbalah posting buddhist doctrine? Because it all emerges from the same source, that's why. When I saw His Holiness in NYC in 2004, he spoke about the religion, the faith , that we are born into. His Holiness said that it was important to honour that, and to use it to create Peace in the world. Because there were many faiths put forth for a reason. We all need to do our part. Also, any knowledge I can gain about what is going on in the spiritual universe is welcomed by this musing girl.

Tropical Storm Zeta, which is the 27th named tropical cyclone for the 2005 hurricane season, formed in the east-central Atlantic Friday morning December 30th. Since then, Zeta has maintained tropical storm strength into 2006. Zeta ties with Alice of 1954 for the latest a tropical storm has formed in the Atlantic basin.
At 5:00 A.M. AST, Zeta was located near 22.1 north, 43.1 west, or 1,325 miles east-northeast of the Leeward Islands. Maximum sustained winds are at 65 mph and Zeta is moving slowly to the southwest at 7 mph. The estimated minimum central pressure is 994 millibars, or 29.35 inches. Zeta remains a threat only to ships at sea in the eastern Atlantic. Given its location we expect the storm to go through weakening and intensifying cycles. hurricane has never developed in the month of January in the Atlantic Basin.
Zeta, like Delta, is located in an area where water temperatures are just warm enough to sustain the storm, and the strong upper-level wind flow is staying just west and north. It will take a stronger and deeper upper-level system to come along and shove it farther north into stronger shear and into colder waters to substantially weaken the system. Another characteristic of Zeta is that the thunderstorms are low-topped and therefore the stronger upper-level winds are not reaching the thunderstorm tops. In fact, the stronger upper-level winds are helping to vent this system and that is why it is intensifying in pulses. If the storm intensifies too much, the thunderstorm tops will grow high enough for the shear to affect the system. Until that happens, Zeta will remain a well-organized storm.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is in India now starting a period of prayer.

GUNTUR (AP): The Dalai Lama will take part in 12-day "Kalachakra", a Buddist religious programe beginning on Thursday, in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. The Buddhist spiritual leader, who arrived at Amaravathi in the district, was welcomed at the helipad by state Finance Minister K Rosiah and Tourism Minister Geetha Reddy. Earlier, the Dalai Lama, during his visit to Nagarjunasagar project in Guntur district, said Buddhist philosophy would promote peace. He also planted saplings in Nagarjunasagar project and went round the island museum in the huge reservoir.

We all have to do our part in our own way to promote the peaceful way.

All of us, together. It does seem a daunting task, doesn't it.

But remember, the sum of the parts is greater than the whole.
And a piece of peace helps to make the puzzle fit together.

The months are coinciding. It doesn't happen often.

Earth may have been formed in the wink of an eye, new study says
Our planet assumed the present form 4.5 billion years ago. It has not virtually changed the original appearance ever since. Earth was suitable for conceiving and developing life forms from the first moments of existence. A team of Western researchers reject the theories about Earth being completely covered with oceans before the first marine species stepped onto the shore.
In short, the story of the discovery looks like this. A rare-earth metal hafnium combined with the crystals of zirconium was found in Jack Hills, a massif in Western Australia. The rocks of the mountain range are considered the oldest in the world (estimated age is 4.4 billion years). Researchers used a radioisotope analysis to find out that the continental crust had formed 4.4-4.5 billion years ago. The continental crust differs from the ocean one by its makeup and thickness. It was previously thought that the continental crust had gradually melted out of the ocean crust.
"Looks like Earth formed in the wink of an eye," says one of the researchers, Dr. Steven Moses at the University of Colorado. "If the theory proves to be right, all today's concepts concerning the formation of Earth will have to be completely revised. Perhaps researchers will have to study the civilizations of Atlanteans and other ancestors whose stories had been regarding as pure fiction before. Assuming that a protein life form existed on Earth several billion years ago, the possibility of those of civilizations looks no longer utopian," says the researcher.
A team of researchers led by Dr. Moses conducted a study regarding the formation of water. The study shows that water appeared on the earth's surface about 4.3 billion years ago. The findings contradict the previous theory saying that water condensed from the atmosphere 3.8 billion years ago. According to researcher, the new findings indicate that the earth's crust, its oceans and atmosphere existed from the very beginning, and the planet Earth was suitable for life in those prehistoric times.
"Dozens of various theories of the origins of Earth were put forth during the long history of science," says Valery Rudukov, senior researcher of the Institute of Physics of Earth under the Russian Academy of Sciences. "Buffon's theory was quite popular at the beginning of the last century. According to theory, the Sun was a white-hot mass when it collided with a comet. The collision resulted in a big hot chunk of the Sun being torn away and split into several parts. The parts later formed planets that went on to circulate round the Sun due to centrifugal and centripetal forces. According to Buffon's theory, the planets might be the parts of incandescent solar matter and therefore might be originally incandescent. The gradual lowering of temperatures on Earth led to the inception and evolution of life. However, the same theory says that the temperatures will continue to drop. All organic life forms will be reduced and killed in the end by the cooling," says Dr. Rudakov.
Many researchers argued against Buffon's theory. Different researchers have different ideas regarding the origins of life. The drifting continents theory and a few others were regarded the most correct in our time. But none of the theories could explain how things were taking shape billions of years ago. A bold hypothesis of the European researchers will probably shed light on many issues.

Deep Impact - Comet Temple 1

Everybody is doing their Year in Review now. I decided I will also. I've been following the story of NASA's Deep Impact - Comet Temple 1 mission throughout this year. The implications of what scientists were doing alerted my quantum synchronicity system.
In The Deep Space Impact mission, NASA blew up a comet. The collision happened on July 4, 2005. Energy was released from the comet that has never been released since creation. I've been musing upon this phenomonon for some time now. The reason for this mission was for scientific data. Quotes from BBC article dated January 11, 2005 :
"We know so little about the structure of cometary nuclei that we need exceptional equipment to ensure that we capture the event, whatever the details of the impact turn out to be. The Impactor will also carry a camera to take pictures . The washing maching size projectile is composed of copper because this metal is not expected to appear in the natural chemical signature of the comet itself. The energy release by the explosion is equivilant to that released by exploding 4.5 tonnes of TNT."

I read it and thought, I don't think this is such a good idea. Since the beginning of humans and record keeping, comets have been viewed as celestial bodies that are the bearers of prophecy. Comets always represented Supernal Forces. All the ancients studied the paths of the comets, and revered them. Releasing energy hithertoo unreleased might prove to be something other than what is expected.

The impact blew up all the equipment. All they got was the picture of the impact, and readings of the susbtance emitted from the comet. And the Comet released its energy into the universe. On July 4, 2005 , after Impact was achieved, the scientists were thrilled. Their mission was successful - they blew up the comet.
"What do scientists hope to learn from this mission?
Comets travel around the Sun in long, oval orbits, releasing dust and gas. They consist of a solid, icy core - or nucleus - surrounded by a cloudy atmosphere called a coma and one or two tails. Though scientists suspect that the material inside them is unchanged since the formation of the Solar System 4.6 fbillion years ago, very little is known about the true nature of this material. Neither do they know much about the sructure of cometary nuclei. Analysis of different forms, or isotopes, of hydrogen in water on Earth suggests that much of our H2O was brought here as ice on comets. Scientists think Earth was bombarded by asteroids and comets early in its history. "

Their quest was for knowledge of creation.

It would now take some time for the data to download. Most of the equipment was destroyed in the explosion of the impact . The impact was much larger than expected. They couldn't measure the size of the crater because there was no more equipment to relay data.
Information from fly- by spacecraft relayed that there was no entropy in the emission of comet substance. Comet Temple 1 just kept on spewing out comet essence into the universe.
I suspect it still is.
In September 2005 the news is released from the analysis they have been doing on the particles released.
"Researchers analysing the data have found the comet is mostly made up of loose powder-like particles. The comet is mostly empty, mostly porous. Probably all the way in, there is no bulk of ice. The ice is all in the form of tiny grains. The material is unbelievably fragile. Scientists say comets are prime candidates for seeding planets, such as Earth, with water and organic material. An anyalysis of material in the impact plume revealed it contains a large amount of carbon. This suggest comets like Tempel 1 contain a substantial amount of organic matter."

OK. So we have the release of a massive amount of energy that is associated with carbon based life forms. The energy of the comet core is still releasing. They can't define it. The information they received from Deep Impact wasn't enough. There is still a mission called The Stardust mission, which is grabbing debris from around comets. At least they aren't blowing them up.
Kabbalistically musing in the realm of quantum synchronicity, I believe that the energy of Comet Temple 1 is the energy of Da'at - the first Sephirot to emerge. Da'at is knowledge.
The dust from the comet is now reaching Earth. Energy frequencies are shifting.
If we take into consideration other celestial events which have been occurring, a pattern emerges.
The Earthquake which preceeded the Tsuamni caused the Earth to stop. The Earth stopped, wobbled, then resumed its spin. Each day becaume 1/10,000 of a second shorted. Always notice 10, and its squares.
Mars is now going backwards, back out to space, in an elliptical orbit which started in August 2003, at which point Mars was closest to the Earth as it had been in 60,000 years. Mars approached 2nd closet distance to Earth this past November. Venus is in a Transit which will end in 2012. The natural distasters which have been occurring on the planet are revealing ancient knowledge. A temple in Indonesia, unearthed after centuries. A Mayan relic in Guatamala, unearthed after the hurricane devistation. The poorest of the poor element in the United States of American revealed after Hurricane Katrina.
Da'at is the Sephriot that reveals what has been concealed. Da'at is knowledge.
That's why I followed this story. Very impacting. (pun intended).
We're being bombarded with stardust. I won't even presume to muse upon what that might mean.
But I do think it might be exciting. Something is happening which has never happened before.

Light Shining through the Darkness is part of what this Season is all about.

B'H, we shall continue to shine our light and create our Peace within, then shine it outwards as the light of the Menorah does. I've learned a lot about the principle of fighting darkness with light, and how the aspect ratio of resistance fits in. Just like Jacob and the Angel - we're always fighting with ourselves. In order to create the piece of Peace within ourselves, we need to feel what it is like without it. It is the pleasure principle - pleasure comes before desire. Pleasure ignites the passive spark to active - to desire. When I look deep within, the silence is there. So is the total connection. When I look without, I get lost a lot. The secret is, I think, to be within and without at the same time. That is why the sybolism of Light is so prevelant now. We need to know. Da'at is knowledge. Da'at was the first sphere to emerge. Somehow it makes sense.

Is Peace really such an abstract concept?

Is Peace really such an abstract concept that it cannot be attained? The Middle East is erupting , as usual. It seems that they can't last 9 seconds without blowing something up.
Because, there is only one answer. Stop. Just stop. How can that be so profound that it has been unattainable since the beginning? Stop.
Every generation has a War. In my memory, there was the WWI generation, the WWII generation, then it was Korea, my generation is the Viet Nam War generation, and now there are so many I can't even keep track. Persian Gulf War, Afganistan, Iraq, war after war after war. Everybody is at war. In case you don't know it, we're at war.

Israel to enforce Gaza no-go zone

Israel has dropped leaflets in Gaza to warn Palestinians that they will face lethal force if they enter a newly declared buffer zone near the border. The Israeli-imposed restrictions will come into effect from 1800 (1600 GMT) on Wednesday, the leaflets say.
"Anyone who will not heed this warning is placing his or her life in immediate danger," the leaflets say.
The buffer area will be about 2.5km (1.5 miles) deep and is intended to stop rocket attacks by militant groups.
Palestinian officials have rejected the proposed buffer zone and called for Israel to re-engage in meaningful peace negotiations.
"The ways of buffer-zones, militarism, incursions, attacks, assassinations will just ... add to the cycle of violence and counter-violence," said senior negotiator Saeb Erekat in a BBC interview.
The leaflets, signed by the Israeli army command and dropped by air onto northern Gaza, include a map of the security zone and said it would be enforced "until further notice".
"For your own safety, read this statement carefully and act accordingly," the leaflet says in Arabic.
"Know that the terrorists have made you hostages and human shields and safeguard your interests," it continues.
Israeli troops and settlers were pulled out of Gaza earlier this year after 37 years of military occupation, but the territory's coastline and airspace and its borders with Israel remain under Israeli control.
Rocket attacks
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon gave the order to impose the buffer at a meeting with cabinet colleagues and security officials on Sunday.
The move followed talks on Thursday in which the prime minister told the army to do everything possible to stop rocket fire from the territory.
A rocket attack that day wounded four Israeli soldiers.
A Palestinian man was killed when the army responded by firing artillery shells at the launch site in a field it said was empty.
The Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, has asked militant groups to stop firing rockets.
But Islamic Jihad, blamed by Israel for the majority of the attacks, has reportedly rejected Mr Abbas's call, blaming Israel for a recent escalation in violence.
They say the rocket attacks are retaliation for raids in the West Bank, as well as air strikes on Gaza.
