7 is dear. Dear meaning sacred. That is what is taught in kabbalah.
The Menorah in the Temple has 7 lights. The Chanukkah Menorah has 8, because the miracle lasted 8 days. Binah is the 8th Sephirot counting upwards, and we are going upwards in the 8 days of lighting the candles of the Chanukkah Menorah.
